It’s not always easy to design. We are going to look at a range of tasks that hopefully will helpyou in the future. We call these tasks, design
strategies. These strategies can be helpful when you are designing any product. We are going to look at the following design strategy
: Morphing
Try this exercise to help you draw a face. The face is made from a number of circles.

Using the face create earlier, develop a wide range different expressions . Which is your favourite?

Cut it in half Round the corners
Square the base
Take a square
Squash it!
Stretch it! Cut the top off it.
Cut it in half
Cut the sides
Using this techniques you can come up with lots of outline shapes for the face of your character

Draw a range of faces using the morphing technique. Don’t forget to annotate and colour in your work.
Start off with a shape of your choice and begin morphing it into a number of different shapes. Don’t forget to add a face and a little bit of imagination to your work.

Still can’t think of any ideas…well here’s another idea. Just mix and match until you get the idea youwant. Then begin adding your own detailhair/beards/glasses/horns/ ears. Have a go..
