Australia is the biggest island and the smallest continent in the world, the lowest continent, the driest inhabited continent on Earth.

The name Australia comes from the Latin Australis which means “Southern”. Legends of "Terra Australis Incognita" an "unknown land of the south" date back to Roman times.

There are a lot of magnificent sights in Australia.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge, the most famous Australian place, was opened in 1932 and is the widest steel arch bridge in the world.

The Sydney Opera House is one of the greatest buildings in the world. It was opened in 1973 by Queen

Elizabeth II.

In Australia there are many

interesting places for tourists to visit.

The big banana - Sometimes claimed to be the first 'Big Thing' in Australia. The Big Banana is the tourist

complex which includes a banana-themed souvenir shop and tours of the surrounding plantation.

The Golden Gumboot is located in Tully,

Queensland since 1970.This town was the winner of a competition between the Far North Queensland

towns for the wettest town of Australia.
