What is Dissociative Identity Disorder?

Two or more distinct identities or personality states

Lack of connection with thoughts, feelings, or identity related to a trauma that has occurred

May be coping method for dealing with the trauma or trauma’s

Different states have different names Frequent gaps in memory Nightmares, flashbacks, aggravated

startled responses, and suicidal or aggressive behaviors

Mood swings or Depression, mood swings, sleep disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, alcohol and drug abuse, compulsions, and eating disorders

amnesia, time loss, trances, and out of body experiences

DSM IV states: scars from self inflicted injuries or physical abuse, headaches, irritable bowl syndrome, self mutilation, and suicide.

Psychotherapy with hypnotherapy

If not treated: possible to abuse of substances, suicide, domestic violence, poor relationships and criminal activities
