Turn to page one of your Current Events section and write down YOUR OPINION about today’s current event:

Last Thursday night, President Obama made a speech to both houses of Congress and the American people

He laid out his plan to create new jobs and make the economy stronger

He wants to cut taxes so that people have more money to spend and build more roads and schools to give people jobs

The unemployment rate in America is currently 9.1%

Do you think President Obama’s plan will work? Why or why not?

When you are done writing your opinion, raise your hand to get it stamped by Mr. Baluch. Then cross it off your To-Do list.

I: Kinds of Maps

A) Political map- Show the boundaries of states or countries that humans made

B) Population density map- show the number of people present per square mile in a given area

C) Climate zone map- show the weather in a given area over a long period of time

D) Elevation map- show how high the land is

Group Work: Population Density Maps and Climate Maps Either with your group or on your own, answer the

following questions using the population density map provided by Mr. Baluch

Then create a climate map of the classroom Which areas are cooler? (think about fans and windows)

Which areas are warmer?

When you are done, raise your hand in order to get your work stamped for credit
