A new marker for the Geographic South Pole is put in place each year on January 1st. The South Pole is covered by a moving ice sheet, so at the end of the year the marker is about 10 metres from where it started.

• Each three must prepare a speech to read out about why Antarctica is important to them and why they should remain.

• You will be asked to read this out to the class and your speech will be graded according to the Level Sheet
