HALLMARKS OF DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAMSSeparation of Language-In early elementary grades, teachers speak only targeted language during specific instructional time.
Purposeful Instruction in the Area of Multiculturalism-Throughout their academic life, students are exposed and supported with issues related to race and ethnicity. After all, how good is it to speak a language if you don’t understand the culture attached to it?
Biliteralism-Students will be supported through literacy in both Spanish and English

The first Dual Language Program in the USA took place in Dade County Public Schools, Miami in 1962.
Today, there are more than 300 nation-wide programs.
94% of DL programs are Spanish/English
