May 20-30, 2011 Trip to Dublin Zoo

transcript

Dublin Zoo

The Zoo was being renovated in a number of areas. They are building a new African Savannah. So we didn’t see any Elephants

or Giraffes.

Phoenix Park just outside the Dublin Zoo has a monument to Wellington (an Irishman who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo).

Sulawesi crested macaque

The Snow Leopards started out in their cave but came out when things warmed up.

Many Great Blue Herons…not in displays, just locals who had figured out that there was easy food at the Zoo.

Playful river Otters, off to find mischief.

Just sleeping until the day warmed up.

The male Hornbill kept offering us a dead mouse. We couldn’t accept; no, really.

African Wild Dogs

Snowy Owl

The Red Pandas had a great jungle gym to play on.

Two-Toed Sloth in the South American House

Yellow Monkey

Yellow Monkeys are difficult to photograph, they move REALLY quickly!
