NSG in short

  Founded 41 years ago in March 1970   Main aim noise abatement through:

–  Influencing national policy (implementation) –  Influencing public opinion, through communication

and education –  Public support via helpdesk

  Board, bureau and advisory committee   Financed by sponsors, donations and

subsidies

NSG: Main activities

  NSG seminar (annual)   Thematic workshops (4/year)   Documentation: brochures, journal, website

(www.nsg.nl in Dutch)   Helpdesk and expert advise

  Priority on traffic noise, neighbour noise and recreational noise

  100 participants at thematic NSG workshops   150 – 200 participants at annual NSG

seminar   1200 donors   300 - 400 questions at helpdesk, of which

75% on neighbour noise   Twice a year newsletter

Initiatives in 2010 - 2011

  Promotion of e-scooter   Promotion of quiet tyres

–  www.kiesdenieuweband.nl   Expert in TV programme “The driving judge”

E-scooter (2010 and 2011)

Pilot in the city of Den Haag -  5 weeks test driving -  Over a 40 participants -  2 winners by movie -  2 winners by voters

-  Now in Zaanstad and in autumn in 4 new Cities

  FAQs on website   Contest for the most Noise friendy city

Innovation Programme Noise (2011)

  Initiative of Min. of Transport & Environment   Promotion of traffic noise abatement through

low noise surfaces, silent tyres, electric vehicles

  Promotion of good acoustic quality in urban planning   Through: information dissemination, pilot projects, helpdek and guidance
