Specifications

Spec Quantifiable statement (testable, with constraints)

Ease of use The product conducts the flavoring process successfully 90% of the time on the 1st attempt.

Aesthetics 90% of 50 consumers prefer our design over the conventional water bottle. The design must have volume graduations.

Color Color to be determined by potential consumers.

Volume Volume will be between 0.5 and 1 liter.

Material To be determined by tests ranging from durability, cost, appeal, etc.

Specifications Con’t

Functionality Multiple tests. Encompasses no leaking, operational flavor system, no leaking occurring in flavor chamber, not a hassle to carry

Reliability/Durability Functional a set amount (30-50) uses ranging from use in washing machine, actual use refilling, drop tests, throwing tests, pressure tests, and is still operational.

Cost Has base cost that is competitive pricing compared to competing companies ($5-$20)

Feasibility Is easy to be built by local vendors and us with proper equipment (injection molding, etc.).

Usability The water flavoring system must flavor three to five times before needing to be refilled. There should be a minimum of two flavoring options. There should be a maximum of 3 processes to flavor.

Exploring Possibilities

Made secondary sketchesHad to fulfill the Specifications

Discussed our ideas and their function Multiple designs to choose from

Selecting an Approach

To decide on the design, we made a weighted constraint matrixAllowed us to evaluate the design

Testing and Evaluating Con’t

Product LongevitySee how long the bottle will function

properly Cleanliness

To ensure to bottle will not keep unwanted residue from flavoring

Refining the Design

We wanted to keep our flavoring device secureFound a water bottle with a flip up cap

• Prevent from breaking when falling

Implemented our design within that new water bottle
