Application OverviewThe Income Statement GL31 Certification process is a critical control for ensuring the integrity of the information in the General Ledger. It is a mandatory monthly requirement.

A web-based tool is used by AU Managers to perform monthly reviews and certifications of income and expense transactions on their GL31 reports. It is a part of financeWeb.

Application Access

GL31 AU Managers automatically have access to the application. If you are an AU Manager and do not have access contact your group controller.

Terms and Definition AU: Accounting unit Review: The process of ensuring all

entries posted to income and expense accounts are accurate and reasonable.

Certify: The action the AU Manager takes to confirm that entries posted to income and expense accounts are indeed accurate and reasonable.

Exception :A questionable or unexplained income and expense transaction $10,000 or greater

Designee: Team member(s) to which an AU Manager delegates the Review process.

Logging OnAccess to the GL31

certification application is achieved through Finance Web. At this time we will demonstrate how to login to the application. Click next to begin.

Dashboard After logging in, the GL31

Certification application launches. We will now discuss each section within the application. Click next to continue.

Dashboard Animation

The dashboard serves as the main page in view. It allows users to navigate through the application. The following sections are available. Broadcast Message. The Broadcast Message contains important information and informs users of any system problems, announcements, etc.

Item highlights and explanation pops up.

Dashboard Animation cont. AU’s Awaiting My Certification or Review. Since Review Designees do

not have the authority to Certify, they see A use Awaiting My Review. Within this section users review, re cord exceptions, add resolution details and AU Managers certify reports. The number of current reports and overdue reports is available at a glance within the dashboard.

AU’s Awaiting Clearance of Outstanding Exceptions. This section serves as a holding area for exceptions being researched. Resolution details are entered here and AU Managers Clear exceptions. The number of reports containing exceptions as well as the number of outstanding exceptions is also available on the dashboard.

Certification History. Thirteen months worth of certification history is stored here.

View Reports Before an AU Manager or

designee does anything to a report they must view it. Reports are viewed from the AU’s Awaiting My Certification or Review section.
