E- Learning

Define E- Learning

“The delivery of a learning, training or education program by electronic means. E-learning involves the use of a computer or electronic device (e.g. a mobile phone) in some way to provide training, educational or learning material.”

History

In 1980-Murray and Hiltz started online distance courses at the New Jersey Institute of Technology , University of Guelph in Canada, the British Open University and the University of British Columbia

In 1993- William D. Graziadei described an online computer-delivered lecture, tutorial and assessment project using electronic Mail.

In 1997- W.D. published an article entitled "Building Asynchronous and Synchronous Teaching-Learning Environments: Exploring a Course/Classroom Management System Solution.

It is used in corporate training. Technology is used primarily to

deliver content to the end user without significant interaction with (or support from) training professionals or managers.

A significant industry has grown up around this form of e-learning.

Its is used in Higher Education. The majority of the content of the course

may be delivered through lectures or through distance-education textual material.

But the course is categorized as e-learning because the interaction with the instructor, the dialogue with other students, the searching for resource materials, and the access to course outlines and supporting material are all conducted online.

It is used in many knowledge intensive organizations

It is linked with knowledge management. 

The above two training growing the opportunities of this Informal Training.
