The Board of Directors of American Baptist International Ministries (IM) announced on April 5 that it has voted unanimously to call the Rev. Sharon T. Koh, Senior Associate Pastor of Mission and Commu-
nity Life for Evergreen Baptist Church of L.A. to the position of Execu-tive Director. She will lead the historic mission agency into it’s third century of sharing the love of Jesus
Christ around the world!
You and others from your church are invited to come and meet Rev. Koh for a conversation around the future of mission involvement of
American Baptists around the world.
THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER is an annual observance
held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all
faiths to pray for our nation. It was created in 1952 by a
joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed
into law by President Harry S. Truman. The National Day of
Prayer belongs to all Americans and is a day that tran-
scends differences, bringing together citizens to celebrate
our most beloved freedom; the freedom to humbly come
before God and seek His guidance in prayer.
Theme for 2016 is Wake Up America and is based on Isaiah 58:1.
SHARING IN TWO MAJOR EVENTS OF THIS
INTERIM PERIOD:
Sunday, May 22-a looking back, celebrating of our history; and learning from our past. A light meal will be provided following a look at our history.
Sunday, June 26- (same time) when we will participate in an exercise designed to help us discern God's direction for our church.
FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR
his Sunday we gather at
the welcome table. Many
of us can recall how sitting at the fam-
ily table gave us courage. It reminded
us that someone had our back and
that we are not alone in this world.
May the communion table give you
courage to say no where needed but
also yes to what God is doing in
the world. As preparation for the
coming to the table please read John
6:27-35 and Daniel 1:8-17.
Please reserve Sunday, May 22 for our
church lunch following worship and a
reflection on our history as a church.
This will be part of our envisioning
the future of the church. In identifying
where we are going we need to know
where we have been.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Bob Wallace
