New IAM Asset Management System guidance
Story continued from cover page.
Th is guide provides an agreed basis that is endorsed by the IAM
for the application of AM systems, and provide some consistency
and clarity for all working in this fi eld. It provides discussion
and recommendations on implementing ISO 55001 for a variety
of scenarios, including integrating it with other management
systems such as ISO 9001 and the concept of an integrated
management system approach.
It will provide the foundation of a new growing suite of guidance
material for asset management, that provides more depth and
context coverage of practical implementations. It also cross
references relevant IAM Subject Specifi c Guides (SSGs) and
other reference sources. It includes some industry examples and
many tips and shares the pitfalls for those embarking on the
asset management journey. It represents a major element in the
IAM’s body of knowledge.

TWPL opens office in Brazil and wins 3-year contract to facilitate ISO 55001
Story continued from cover page. Th is 3-year project will assist CTEEP, one of the largest power
transmission companies in the country, to establish asset
management capabilities, life cycle planning, optimal decision-
making and establishment of a management system compliant
with ISO 55001. ‘Th is is an initiative that mobilizes every
single department of the company and is part of the strategic
corporate priorities for the future’ said Mr. Celso Cerchiari,
CTEEP Technical Director at the launch in February.
Launch of CTEEP programme:
Rene Leonel and John Woodhouse of TWPL celebrate the
project launch with CTEEP President Dr Reynaldo Passanezi
and other Senior Executives.
Th e programme includes establishment and customisation of
asset life cycle planning activities, risk management, quantitative
cost/risk optimization methods for decision-making, education
programmes, culture change and the establishment of a joined-
up management system for asset management. Initial stages
include reviews of existing processes, a ‘gap’ analysis and a
series of pilot studies and solution development workshops.
Th ese harness existing good practices and develop links
and improvements in areas where greater integration and
alignment are possible. A key part of this is the ‘desiloing’ of the
organisation – enabling better multi-disciplined collaboration in
the delivery of value across the whole asset life cycle.

Story continued from cover page. Asset Management Special Report published in Th e Times
For any new chief executive, the task of transforming a business
used to defi ning its assets in terms of technical standards and
terminology can be formidable.
Th e concept of asset management has grown up in the
infrastructure and transport sectors. In so doing, it has generated
a raft of concepts and technologies which may seem alien to a
chief executive with a track record of improving the fortunes of
businesses focused on managing fi nancial assets or IT systems.
To make things even more complicated, any newcomer has
quickly to get to grips with terms which even asset managers say
are not precisely defi ned.
