They pay a nominal amount for miscellaneous fees, which schools use to help finance certain activities and special programmes. secondary and pre-university levels: subsidized school fees. Citizens who attend private schools at the primary and secondary levels may also apply for an education allowance. Students will need to be at least 5 years old to be eligible.

SECONDARY SCHOOL Consists of 7-8 years - 5 to 6 years of Form 1 to Form 5 - 2 years pre-tertiary education 3 public examinations: BJCE (sat at the end of form 3) BCGEO (O level which is usually sat the end of Form 5) BCGEO (A level which is usually sat the end of pre-university education) - Required to enter university

SYLLABUS IN LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOLMainstream subjects
Bahasa Melayu, English Language, Mathematics, Science, Islamic Religious Knowledge, History and Geography
Compulsory and examinable subjects
Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB or Malay Islamic Monarchy), Physical Education (PE) and Cocurriculum
Compulsory but non examinable subjects
Computer Studies, Agriculture, Home Science, Commercial Studies, Woodwork, Technical Drawing, Metalwork, Music, Art & Design, Design and Technology, and a third language (Arabic, Chinese or French).
SYLLABUSElectives (optional and examinable subjects) All subjects are taught in English except for Islamic Religious Knowledge, MIB, Art and Handicrafts and the third language.
