Discipline & Behavioral Modification
Fostering good habits of character and good citizenship is central in the school mission.
Maintaining discipline is the key to providing an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
The administration, teachers, and parents must ensure that students adhere to the school rules and behave appropriately.
School Rules Grades 3 students develop their own
rules with their classroom teacher. Generally, rules relate to the following: Promptness, Responsibility, Organization, Engagement, Teamwork, Discipline, Respect, and Honesty.
Discipline & Behavioral Modification
Positive Reinforcement Our philosophy student discipline is
centered around positive reinforcement and the exercise of patience in supporting every child in improving his conduct.
We believe that generally students readily change their behavior if they are approached in a positive and constructive manner, using praise and promoting self-esteem and confidence.
Discipline & Behavioral Modification
Two positive reinforcement programs Beads for Deeds: Rewardable deeds are voluntary actions that reflect good habits of character and good citizenship. Examples of such behaviors include:
Helping others Protecting the integrity of others Picking up litter
Good News Report (GNR): is given to students who have performed consistently well or have significantly improved in behavior.
Discipline & Behavioral Modification
Grades 3 Disciplinary Code The BREAK disciplinary system is used
when necessary. Each letter in “BREAK” is associated
with a certain number of offenses committed by a student and a disciplinary consequence.
Discipline & Behavioral Modification
Offense Level Consequence
First Offense B: Beware and Behold Student is given a verbal warning.
Second Offense
R: Rethink and Regret Student writes an apology letter.
