What is Blood donation?

A blood donation occurs when a person Voluntarily has blood drawn and used for transfusion.

Donation may be of whole-blood (WB), or of specific components directly.

Objectives

To conduct a study on blood donor management.

To design an electronic blood donor management system.

To validate the design using a prototype Support

History of Blood Donation Blood transfusion service became available in

Bangladesh at the Dhaka Medical Collage Hospital in 1950.

An estimate from 2011 is that of the 500,000 units of blood required annually, only 25% come from voluntary donation, 20–25% from paid donors, and 50–55% from one-time donation for a specific patient.

Blood Transfusion Basics

Blood transfusion is the process of transferring blood or blood components from one person to another

Transfusions are used to treat massive blood loss due to trauma or surgery

Also used to treat people suffering from blood disease

Supply and screening

Blood supplies are often low, and drop usually in the summer

This is due to strict screening methods and a task of donors

All donated blood in our system are tested for HIV, Hepatitis, and other disease.

Our system has very specific screening requirements

The donation Process

Before Donation During donation After Donation

Before Donation

Generally, you must be at least 16 years of age. Weight is minimum 110 pounds and in basic good

health. Checking of your pulse, blood pressure, temperature

and hemoglobin. The body contains 10 to 12 pints of blood. Your whole

blood donation is approximately one pint. Screening questions at each donation must be asked to

ensure the safest possible blood supply. Signature of your application to confirm that you have

read understood the information.

During donation

The needle, like all of the materials used for collection blood is new, sterilized, sealed and used only once.

You may feel a slight sting in the beginning lasting only a couple of seconds, but there should be no discomfort during the donation.

Donation process takes about 10-15minutes. The entire donation process, from registration to

post-donation refreshments, takes about one hour.

After Donation

Most people feel great after giving blood. If any abnormal symptoms, check it by the doctor. Apply pressure for about five minutes to stop any

bleeding. Avoid any intense physical activity for six to eight hours. The volume of fluids will adjust within a few hours of your

donation. The red blood cells will be replaced within a few weeks. Be sure to eat well at your regular mealtimes and drink

plenty of fluids.

Functionalities of this System

This system is used for maintaining whole information about Blood Donation. In this project mainly 3 modules are there.

Limitation of the Manual system:

time consuming leads to error prone resultsconsumes lot of manpowerlacks of data securityRetrieval of data takes lot of timePercentage of accuracy is lessReports take time to produce

Advantages over Manual system

Access from any where of worldAccess at any timeQuick SearchBetter CommunicationOptimize to volunteerTime OptimizeCost Optimize

Security Of This system

Only administrator can do any kind of insert, update and delete related operation.

User has no permission to do this kind of operation.

secure form destroy data and any kind of illegal operation.

It is easy to find out the operator.

Conclusion

This report presents the Blood Bank Management System related issues.

Problem to calculate amount of blood in stock. difficulty in identifying blood expiry date.

In future we must overcome this drawback by using modern technologies.
