Some tips for workplace safety for winter…

Supply salt buckets at entrances so that employees and visitors can sprinkle salt each time the ice builds up.

DAY ONE

Get regular winter weather updates and broadcast them for travelers in and out of the office.

Train employees on how to recognize signs of cold stress and frostbite.

DAY THREE

Mandate that all employees working outdoors wear cold weather personal protective equipment.

Mark hazardous areas when necessary using temporary signs and cones.

DAY FIVE

Encourage employees to wear footwear with traction.

DAY SIX

Make sure building entrances all have door mats to avoid slippage.

DAY SEVEN

Provide a safe driving / winter car inspection checklist for all traveling employees.

DAY EIGHT

Clear all accumulations of snow from ledges and overhangs to avoid piles from falling overhead.

DAY NINE

Provide consistent access to fluids for continued hydration, particularly for those working outdoors.

DAY TEN

Encourage extra hand washing. Weakened immune systems make us less alert.

Host a weight maintenance competition. A healthy workforce is a safer workforce!
