Underpinning principles for National examinations
• National registration examinations are high-stakes with significant
outcomes depending on a candidate’s results.
• Defensibility is based on the ability of our exam items to discriminate
between candidates who can demonstrate content/competency mastery
and those that cannot
• Exam items are developed and reviewed by contemporary practising
pharmacists
• Examination results can assist to “triangulate” results for other quality assurance activities, e.g. Education provider accreditation

• Continuous improvement

Approach must be:- As objective as possible- As valid as possible- As reproducible as possible- Based on many subject matter experts
