SWAN LAKE

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky created this ballet in 1875-1876.

The scenario originates from the Russian folk tales and tells the story of the princess Odette, who was

turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse

The choreographer of the original version was Julius Reisinger.

The first performance was shown in the Bolshoi Theatre on the 4th of March,

1877

Nowadays many theatres prefer another interpretation of the ballet made by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov for the Imperial Ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1895
