SUBJECT: Quezon and Bicol Power Restoration Projects
Dear Mr. Rivera:
This is in response to the issue raised by Ms. Maya G. Villaluz regarding
replacement of trees cut for the above subject projects. Ms. Villaluz wants to
include fruit trees aside from forest trees in the replacement project. Please be
informed that fruit trees/vegetation which does not exceed three (3) meters in
height will still be allowed to grow within the T/L ROW. Thus, fruit trees/crops (e.g.,
guava, papaya, banana, camote, ipil-ipil, madre de cacao, bamboo, rice, etc.) that
maybe cut/damaged during stringing activities will be compensated and concerned
farmers/landowners will be allowed to grow the same vegetation within the T/L
ROW.
In addition to compliance with DENR's requirement to replace naturally grown
forest trees (if any) to be cut due to project, TransCo has plans to enter into a
Memorandum of Agreement with National Power Corporation to a partnership on
reforesting parts of Buhi-Barit and Tiwi Watersheds.
Best regards.
Very trulsy yours,
