The Assessments

Participation

• Ontario’s Education Quality and Accountability Act states that all students in publicly funded schools are expected to participate in the EQAO provincial assessments

• There are some circumstances where students with special education needs will participate in the assessments with EQAO accommodations and some limited cases where a student may be exempted from the assessment.

• SETTING (adjustments to the environment)

• PRESENTATION (administration formats of the test)

• RESPONSE (permitted formats for student responses)

Grade 10 11% <1%

• A student’s participation in the OSSLT can be deferred, in special circumstances.

• A student can be exempted from the OSSLT only if they are not working towards an OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma)

• There are no exemptions or deferrals for the Grade 9 EQAO math assessment.
