WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
COMMON SPECIFIC SUBAREAS OF COOPERATION Basic research common interests
• Studies of solar resources in Latin America including social, geographical and economic, industrial needs issues.
• Metrological standars
• Components and control systems
• Thermal energy storage (phase-change materials, fluid heat transfers, advanced systems, mechanical storage configuration)
• Development of critical concentrator materials (recievers, solar fields)
• Water-use footprint (desalinization, water treatment, toxicity treatments…).
• Solar technologies in buildings.
• Trainning and scientific interchanges programs EU+LAC (doctoral and senior profiles)
COMMON SPECIFIC SUBAREAS OF COOPERATION Demonstration common activities
• Geographical R+D adaptability needs (mirrors, electric systems, heat tramision fluids, receivers, solar fields, among others). Mainly Fresnel in Argentina and Dish Stirling in Mexico
• Direct Solar Steam (quality, purity…)
• Solar concentration thermal generation applied to both heating and cooling and electricity
• Improvement in the environmental and water-use footprint
• Solar Hydrogen production and other solar subproducts
• Hybridization systems (biogas, natural gas, biomass, geothermal)
• Distributed generation (low-medium installed capacity) in isolated areas.
PROPOSED COOPERATION ACTIVITIES*
-New development of components in a pilot plant Fresnel and parabolic trough
solar technology
-Partners; Universidad Nacional de Salta (AR) in cooperation with national
industry+CIEMAT (ES)+CINVESTAV-IPN (ME)+UNAM (ME)+CENIDET
(ME)+IIE (ME)+CEA (FR)
-Thermal energy storage mainly in distributed generation
-Partners; Universidad Nacional de Salta (AR)+CIEMAT (ES)+ CEA (FR)
*The countries represented at the meeting were; MX, ES, FR, AR. Other national points of view have not been taking into consideration at the time of the preparation of the this document
OTHER PROPOSED ACTIVITIES*: Capacitation, Innovation
Promotion, Technology Transference, etc
-Cooperation agreement among a network of research centres in Latin
America (ME and potentialy others) and in Europe
-Partners; Red Temática de Energías Renovables (ME)+CIEMAT
(ES)
--Exchange of public policies experiences in the field of concentrated
solar LAC-EU (regulatory framework, incentives, etc).
-Partners; Policy makers in energy from Latin America and Europe
*The countries represented at the meeting were; MX, ES, FR, AR. Other national points of view have not been taking into consideration at the time of the preparation of the this document
FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS 1. A Latin American roadmap is needed with a view to establishing the pathway of
the coming policies in the field of concentrated solar power that are expected to
be taken in Latin America.
2. A Latin American common energy framework (internal coordination) is of
paramount importance in the concentrated solar area, e. g. the Set Plan in
Europe
3. It is encoraged to launch a trainning and scientific interchange programs
EU+LAC
