Impact of Climate Change - India
Increase in mean temperature : By 0.60C in the last 100years.
Negative impact on crop productivity : Experienced inwheat and paddy due to increased temperature, reductionin rainy days and consequential water stress.
Projections (medium-term - 2010-2039) : Yield reductionby 4.5 to 9% - posing challenge to food security andlivelihood
Overall impact on agricultural economy: Cost of climatechange estimated at around 1.5% of GDP from Agricultureevery year (ICAR NICRA project)
Fisheries sector employs 14.5 million most vulnerablesector to climate change
