• Blasters and explosives engineers usually work with explosives for mines and construction.

• Specialists that prevent explosions usually work with the military or police to investigate and disable bomb-related threats.

• There is a large amount of on-the-job training included.

How you can prepare for this job

• Some employers require that you take a college program in civil and/or environmental engineering followed by on-the-job experience.

• You should also take math and science classes such as statistics and chemistry.

• Explosives specialists need to know how to work effectively in a team and remain calm in tense situations.
