• S-SIT AND ORGANIZE MATERIALS FOR THE LESSON… GET YOUR JOURNAL, SPRINGBOARD BOOK AND A SHARPENED PENCIL.

• E-EXAMINE AND FOLLOW TEACHER’S DIRECTIONS… ON YOUR NEXT BLANK PAGE, WRITE TODAY’S DATE AT THE TOP. TITLE THIS PAGE ~ LESSON 13-1 COMPLEMENTARY, SUPPLEMENTARY, AND ADJACENT ANGLES

• T-TAKE THE CHALLENGE! WRITE THE CQ IN JOURNAL BELOW THE TITLE:

CHALLENGE QUESTION: WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT ANGLES FROM PREVIOUS GRADES? USE YOUR BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE TO CREATE A BUBBLE MAP WITH ALL THE TERMS AND CHARACTERISTICS THAT YOU CAN REMEMBER.

TWO ANGLES ARE COMPLEMENTARY. ONE MEASURES 38˚ AND THE OTHER MEASURES (4X)˚.

PRESENTATION Noise level 0

1. Draw a pair of adjacent, complementary angles and label them with the given information.

2. Write an equation to show the relationship between the two angles and solve for the value of x.

3. Find the measures of both angles.

4X 38˚

2. 4X + 38 = 90 -38 -38 4X = 52

4 4 X = 13

3. First angle = 38˚ Second angle = 4(13) = 52˚

Write the word “Triangle” in the center circle and then write one characteristic or term in each of

the other circles.

A. X + X + 5 + 3X = 180

B. 5X + 5 = 180 X = 35

C. = 35 + 5 = 40˚ A∠ = 35˚ B∠ = 3X = 3(35) = 105˚ C∠

How long do we have to complete the activity: 20 mins

What do we do? BY YOURSELF: Using your notes, you will start completing Lesson 13-1 on pgs. 137-141 and Lesson 13-2 on pgs. 142-144 and Activity 13 practice on Page 145 (start today and complete on Wednesday). On Wednesday, you will be working by yourself! No talking!!

WRAP-UP

W- Write homework assignment in planner (Page 145-146 all ) R- Return materials and organize supplies A-Assess how well you worked in a group or individually

Did I/we maintain operating standards? Did I/we work toward learning goals? Did I/we complete tasks?

P- Praise one another for high quality work: Tickets for a “P” performance overall
