A) Chinese Festivals

B) Western Festivals

A) Chinese Festivals

1) Chinese New Year – get lucky money

We get lucky money and watch fireworks at Chinese New Year.

2) Ching Ming Festival – visit graves

Ching Ming Festival is in spring.

People visit graves at Ching Ming Festival.

3) Dragon Boat Festival –

watch dragon boat races

Dragon Boat Festival is in June.

People watch dragon boat races at Dragon Boat Festival.

4) Mid-Autumn Festival

– play lanterns and eat moon cakes

- enjoy the full moon in autumn

Mid-Autumn Festival is in autumn.

We play lanterns and eat moon cakes at Mid-Autumn Festival.

We also enjoy the full moon on that day.

B) Western Festivals

1) Valentine’s Day –

send roses and cards

Valentine’s Day is on 14th February.

People send roses and cards to the people they love on Valentine’s Day.

2) Easter – eat chocolate eggs

Easter is on the first Sunday after the full moon of the spring.

We eat chocolate eggs at Easter.

3) Mother’s Day –

give flowers and card

Mother’s Day is on the second Sunday of May.

We give flowers and card to our mothers.

4) Halloween – have parties and play gamesHalloween is on 31st October.

Children have parties and play games at Halloween.

5) Christmas – give presents

Christmas is on 25th December.

People give presents at Christmas.
