Fill & Sign PDF documents with Adobe Acrobat Reader XI

This deck explains how to fill PDF documents which do not have form fields enabled by default

HOW TO ADD TEXTAlways save an unedited version of the original PDF file locally on your computer and edit that copy rather than editing a copy opened from an online location

Step 1: Activate form filling by clicking “Fill & Sign” (Acrobat provides two options to do this)

Step 2: Click “Add text”Step 3: Place cursor where you want to add text, click to enable text box. And type!Note: Similarly, to add a checkmark (e.g., to select “yes” or “no” option on a form), click “Add checkmark” and place the mouse where you want it placed.

ADD A SIGNATUREAlways save a draft version of the document before you sign as documents cannot be edited after you sign!

Signature Option 1: Use a saved image (a scanned copy of the signature in .pdf or .jpg format).

Step 1: Enable Signature by clicking “Place Signature” (Fill & Sign must be activated already). This will bring up various signature options. Following slides explain the “saved file” option.

Signature Option 1: Use a saved image : • Step 1: Select “Use an image” (useful if you have a scanned signature saved in your computer)• Step 2: Browse to and select the saved image in your computer (must be in pdf or jpeg format)• Step 3: Click open, preview and place cursor where you want the signature placed.

Save the documentNote: Once you sign & save a document, it cannot be altered. If you need to make changes, you should open the original document make the edits and sign it again Top: Always save a draft version before adding the signature when working with documents that need a lot of editing

Signature Option 2: Use a webcam to capture a signature in real-time

To start, enable Signature by clicking “Place Signature” (Fill & Sign must be activated already ). This will bring up various signature options. Following slides will explain the webcam option

Signature Option 2: Use your webcam : • Step 1: Select “Use a webcam”• Step 2: This will bring up a security warning about allowing the application to use your webcam. • Click “Yes”

Reuse signature or remove saved signature

Note: Once you use Acrobat Reader to sign a document, your signature will be saved. To sign another document, Activate “Fill & Sign” and click “Place Signature”
