Dear Friends,
Jesus invites us to live as Children of God. He took little ones in his arms, blessed them, and said “God’s kingdom is made of people like these.”
Unfortunately, many people see kingdom living as kid stuff. We all have a tendency to want to be seen as the big shot, smart one, rich one, or powerful one—not the little one. But Jesus
wants us to know that the royal road to Kingdom Living is through being a child.
Will we be like an infant, resting in the tender arms of our loving God? Will we become like a trusting toddler, jumping into the strong embrace of our caring father? Will we place our complete trust in the hands of God and receive the Lord’s love and grace as a gift?
Often when I utter the Jesus Prayer (Lord, Jesus Christ have mercy on me), I say it out loud, while lifting my arms in the air. I can imagine myself falling back safely into the arms of the Loving Father. That humble act of dependence enacts a divine truth, bestowing contentment and peace.
It’s so lovely to be a Child of God.
Yours in Christ,
SteveRev. Dr. Steven Jay Davis

FAMILY MINISTRIES CORNER In this picture from "Walk
Thru the Bible," “One
Thistle and Onion” are
trying desperately to do
one thing: Stay on
Target, which is the key
word and theme of the
Book of 1 Thessalonians
(“One Thistle Onion”).
The relationship between
the apostle Paul and the
believers at Thessalonica was like a father with his children—
encouraging, comforting, urging them to live lives pleasing to God. To
learn more about the 1 Thessalonians, check out Pastor Steve's blog at
StevenJayDavis.com… and be sure to join us in church on Sunday, too!
We’ll see you there!
YOUTH GROUP NEWS: A NOTE FROM WENDY
Catalina registration forms will be available in the Church Office. If you
are going to attend, you will need to fill one out and return it to Wendy
or the Church Office ASAP. There is a $175 deposit due by June 30, and
final payments will be due by July 15.
The Youth Group will be holding a Car Wash
Fundraiser here at the church on July 10 to help
raise money for their Catalina trip. Tickets are $5
and are available from the Youth Group or in
the Church Office. Stay tuned for more info!
The FCC Catalina Scholarship Fund needs your help! Catalina is an
amazing event for our kids, but an expensive one as well. In order to
ensure ALL our kids can attend, we need scholarship funds available. If
you can help out with this, please contact Wendy Zaragoza at
(909) 771-3411 or call the Church Office.
Lastly, if you would like to host the Youth Group at your house, please let
Wendy know. We are looking for places where we can go swimming
during Youth Group on Sunday evenings! Thank you so much for your
continued support of our fabulous youth.

USHERS NEEDED FOR “OKLAHOMA” OPENING NIGHT
We are still in need of more ushers for the opening night of “Oklahoma”
at the Redlands Bowl on July 28, 2016! Please sign up on the patio or in
the Church Office if you would like to volunteer.
WOMEN’S BOOK CLUB
The Women’s Book Club will meet at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 26 in
the Church Library.
MISSIONS MINUTE: A NOTE FROM THE MISSIONS COMMITTEE
Every year since 1983, we have awarded a $2,000 scholarship to a
seminary student who reflects the general theological position of our
church. In 2015, the Mission Committee voted to award the 2015
scholarship to Rev. Moegagogo Solomona. Forthwith the Rev. Solomona
will be referred to as Pastor G. When the Rev. Dr. David Gray retired as Sr.
Minister of the Congregational Church of the Messiah he recommended
that Pastor G. be ordained, as he was to assume the responsibilities of Sr.
Minister. He is presently a student at Haggard School of Theology at
Azusa Pacific University. He is an “A” student and will graduate next May
having earned a MDiv degree. He is the son of the Rev. Faafounia
Solomona who is the Sr. Minister of the First Samoan Church of San
Diego. As the result of Congregational missionaries from England coming
to Somona and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, Pastor G.’s father,
grandfather and great grandfather have served as Congregational
ministers in Somona, New Zealand, and in the United States. The Mission
Committee has voted to award Pastor G. the church’s 2016 scholarship.
We are excited to play at least a small part in the further preparation of
Pastor G. for the gospel ministry. (The Missions Committee will meet next
on Monday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Office.)
WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP MEETING REMINDER
Those ladies who served on the informal Board of Women’s Fellowship
this past year are reminded of the Committee Meeting, to be held
on Wednesday, June 29 at 9:30 a.m. in the Church Library. All other
interested ladies are welcome to join us!
CHURCH OFFICE CLOSED
The Church Office will be closed on Monday,
July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
