‘’Follow me’’Sermon Presentation by
Pastor Juanito D. Samillano Jr.
Luke 5; 1-11 KJV• And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed
upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
• 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had this done, they in closed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7 And they
beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and
help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a
sinful man, O Lord.
• 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: 10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto
Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11 And when they had brought
their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

• V3- Then He got into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little
from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
• V8- When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I
am a sinful man, O Lord!”
Personal Encounter with Christ!
• Acts 8; 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray you, of whom
speaks the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philip
opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached to him
Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water: and the
eunuch said, See, here is water; what does hinder me to be baptized?
Personal Experience of God’s Blessings!
• 4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down
your nets for a catch.”5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night
and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and
their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so
that they began to sink.
• Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.“
• Genesis 24:35 The LORD has blessed my master abundantly, and he has become wealthy. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.
Personal Expression of commitment
• 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.
And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” 11 So
when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.
Commitment
• the act of binding yourself (intellectually or emotionally) to a course of action;
• Commitment shown by an action! (perform an action)
• Peter, James and John used a ship for fishing. This signifies that they have a good business carrier.
• As expression of their commitment they leave everything and followed Jesus! (Business, big fish, fathers)
• Matthew 26:33 Peter replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.“
• A; He spoke without thinking• B; He wants to put himself above
the others• The church historian Tertullian,
Origen, and Eusebius state that Peter was said to be crucified upside down because he felt unworthy to be crucified in the way that the Lord Jesus Christ had been.
• Acts 12:2• New International
Version (NIV)• 2 He had James,
the brother of John, put to death
with the sword.
• he was boiled in a huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic book of Revelation on Patmos. The apostle John was later freed and returned to what is now modern-day Turkey. He died as an old man,
