JUNE 2020
Message from NSS President 2020-21
Respected seniors and dear friends,
I'm very glad to be amongst you all and share my thoughts.
The chair of the President of NSS has been occupied by the stalwarts of surgical fraternity since
times immemorial. Many of these are *my idols, my mentors & my teachers*. To name a few are
Late Dr Vasant Pawar sir, Dr Sampat Pawar sir, Dr Pramod Shinde sir, Dr Shriram Upadhye sir,
Dr Narayan Sonawane... to name a few..
So it's a matter of great pride & honor to occupy this chair.
I know it's a hot seat & not a celebrity post. It carries great responsibility & commitment.
By God's grace & with full cooperation of my Team & unconditional support of you all NSS
friends, I myself is confident of delivering the best that I could.
Last year; whenever I used to think & plan for the installation ceremony of my Team, it was an
unimaginable thought of addressing the NSS colleagues on virtual platform. But Covid-19 has
changed the parameters of all aspects of our life which we are seeing not only in our country but
throughout the world. It has affected every aspect of our existence & life including our personal,
family, social, financial & professional life.
Friends, we are witnessing a very *important happening of this century*. The world is facing this
pandemic after almost *100 year since 1918-1919*. We are a proud designated #Corona
Warriors. We have to shoulder the responsibility of researching, predicting, planning & treating
the Covid-19 menace. I know many of us are doing their best & excelling in this field.
This Covid-19 has compelled us to change the way we think, practice, operate & treat patients.
Our CME & social gatherings became virtual & online. Telemedicine & Teleconsulting are the
new norms.
*In every adversity there is a hidden opportunity*.And same is true about Covid-19 pandemic.
Covid-19 has reoriented us from materialistic social world to family centered spiritual path. It's a
great welcome change. Many of us are acclimatizing to this welcome change. We are literally
*discovering-THE SELF* with renowned interest, zeal & joy.
To plan & summarize our activities in this coming year:
We have planned to conduct *twice monthly online webinar & CME* by experts faculties at
state & national level.
At the same time we are committed to give exposure to our speakers of local NSS members on
*4th Sunday of every month*. This we will be clubbed with interactive sessions of *hobbies &
extracurricular talents* of our members.
We have launched a *Facebook live page* to offer platform for our members to publicize their
work.
We have plan to publish the *e-Bulletin* every month to acknowledge & document our monthly
activities & also to publish original research work of our members.
We have started a series by name "kaleidoscope -मागे वळुन पाहता", with the idea of introducing
our senior NSS members to young surgeons & hence the glorious history of NSS.
We have raised voluntary donation fund by the generous contribution of NSS members *#Covid-
19 Fund* to assist & help the *#FightAgainstCorona*.I am proud to mention that we could
collect a fund of Rs 1.40 Lakh. The same fund was utilized for distributing the much needed 3-
ply surgical masks, sanitizers to grass root level workers of NMC, Police, Collectorate, MSEB &
अन्न सेवा समिती at Nasik civil hospital. We also distributed protective goggles to 'आशा वर्क र ' at
Bytco hospital.
Our CS Dr Suresh Jagdale, Civil Hospital, Nashik had given us a letter asking for voluntary
services *@ Civil Hospital for *Non-Covid routine Surgical work*. I'm glad that our NSS
members have responded to this noble call of duty & they are offering our services at Nashik
Civil Hospital on daily basis since 25th May.
Friends, it seems that meetings & gatherings as of now are a distant dream. It might not be
possible to conduct the CME''s & physical meets this year most probably till Oct-Nov.
But I will not lose any opportunity to interact with you personally whenever the time & reality
permits.
I am fortunate to have the excellent team to guide & work in my tenure as the President. My
teammates secretary Dr Swapnil Parakh, Treasurer Dr Vishal Pawar, Executive committee
members Dr Advay Aher & Dr Kailas Mogal, President Elect Dr Girish Thorat & Past President
Dr Mahesh Malu ,all are noble ,humble ,expert & a gem of the persons.
It’s indeed a joy to work with these expert teammates.
Dr Dilesh Bharambe is a technical brain behind our digital activities.
Dr Harshad Mahatme, Dr Prashant Muthal, Dr Pradeep Wagh are silent contributors to our
successful stories.
Friends, I expects your wholehearted support & full cooperation to make this year a successful. I
am 24×7 open to any suggestion & guidance from you all.
Jai Hind
Jai Maharashtra.
Thanks,
Long Live NSS

we have lot of talent. We are also conducting non-academic, life enriching sessions like
photography, fitness and yoga, philosophical talks for our members and their family.
Few important topics like medicolegal aspects, hospital establishments and quality control,
entrepreneurship will also be covered.
I am fortunate to have leadership of Dr. Nandkishor Katore Sir who is a guiding force for all this

At the outset let me thank each one of you from the bottom of my heart for showing trust in me
by unanimous election to the post of President Elect.
Friends, we are going through a difficult time and more difficult times are still ahead.
Present pandemic through which we are going has resulted in a paradigm shift in the way we
used to work, meet each other and exchange our thoughts and experiences.
In spite of all the limitations imposed by the pandemic our association is doing exemplary work,

be carried forward in the coming years.

"Kaleidoscope -मागे वळुन पाहता"
Our NSS is a very dynamic, lively & vibrant organisation. Our young surgeons / members are
masters not only in their surgical skills & speciality but many extracurricular activities. They are
the main force behind the liveliness of our society.
Our veteran senior surgeons, who were the founders pillars of our society, are unknown to many
of these youngsters.
These senior surgeons were stalwarts in surgical expertise and they had provided the much
needed surgical services to this city over decades. Many of these were innovative & had
introduced newer surgical techniques, procedures & equipments in respect to the advances in
surgical fields & practices. They had fine-tuned the surgical practice in our city. In fact they had
built the basic foundations of surgical practice, which has facilitated the surgical practices of new
successive entrant in Nasik surgical fraternity. We owe a lot in terms of respect & gratitude to
these veteran seniors.
We, the executive committee has decided to introduce these seniors surgeons in a phased series
titled as-
Kaleidoscope: मागे वळुन पाहता
NSS: The Glorious History
Know Your Senior Colleagues
The idea behind this series is to acknowledge our youngsters about the glorious history of our
NSS & senior surgeons. This will definitely help to bridge the generation gap.
Our secretary Dr Swapnil Parakh has come out with this brilliant concept.
I will request the active members of our society who are in contact with the seniors &
"knowhow" with them to send the detailed CV & photos of these to either myself, Dr Swapnil
Parekh & Dr Vishal Pawar on our personal WhatsApp. We will publish them either weekly or
fortnightly.
*Team NSS 2020-21*
Our Paranjpe sir always said ‘Surgeons and Barbers were one community and it was barbers who
wanted to separate out from surgeons’.
NSS wishes a Healthy long life to Dr Sudhakar Paranjpe sir. May God Almighty shower him
with the same.
(Sincere thanks to Dr Milind kirloskar Sir for his efforts in making Dr Paranjpe Sirs CV).
Case Capsule of the Month
My checkmate with Covid-19
Just wanted to share my experience of last week, with my colleagues.
Wednesday, 3rd June at 2p.m. I did caesarean section of Primi (for prolonged labour) at
Gynaecologist hospital with all aseptic precaution and with full protective kit.
Caesar section was completed in 25 minutes without damaging single fibre. It was clean cut
incision.
Thursday June 4th at night 9 pm patient became breathless, no fever, saturation was 60%, we
brought saturation up to 90%, x-ray chest was full white ground glass pattern. And then patient
shifted to civil Hospital by 12:00 midnight on stretcher.
We were with full protective kit during resuscitation.
Patient and baby boy 3kg is alright, without any support now and about to discharge.
But on Saturday 6th June at 8:30 pm report comes as covid-19 positive.
Everyone was in shock, gynaecologist, anaesthetist, paediatrician, physician and assistant staffs.
Now What?
Many advices came,
But we all started
Isolation,
Azee 500 mg BD
Ivermectine BD
HCQ 200 mg BD
Vitamin C BD
Becozinc BD
Vitamin D sachet OD.
Saturday 7th June whole night was horrible (Can’t explain in words)
Sunday 8th June Early morning 7:30 I called my pathologist friend, he said will do covid-19 Sars
Cov-2 PCR test today itself ,it is fifth day of exposure ,so we all did covid-19 test (nasal swab
and oral swab) on 7th June Sunday 4:00 p.m.
Sunday night again was restless.
I was continuously enquiring about the reports to the lab person.
And to our surprise (all our good deeds paid off)
All reports were negative.
It was a great relief, immediately I took blessings of my Aai (mother-in-law).
Hugged and celebrated with Madhuri, Sushant and Rushikesh.
What a big relief for me and all our well-wishers.
माधरुी, सशुाांत आणि ऋणिकेश याांना णिलगलो आणि आई (सास)ू याांचे आशीवााद घेतले.

•We can do covid-19 test after 48 hours also after exposure.
•Covid -19 SARS PCR report comes in 24 hours with good labs ICMR recognised
•Henceforth i will be doing covid-19 test for Major cases.

further.
