In-line Filter Servicing

1. In-line Norgren particulate filter.

2. Push up on the drain bowl and turn counterclockwise about 1/4 turn.

3. Pull down to remove bowl.

4. Pour out water or any other substances that may be in the bottom of the bowl.

5. Remove the filter element by turning it counterclockwise.

6. Examine the filter for debris other than dirt, oil or water. If found, examine compressorfor possible servicing.

7. Install a new filter on threaded boss of filter housing. (P/N NG4444-01)

8. Reinstall the drain bowl by pushing up and turning clockwise about 1/4 turn.

1. SERVICE: Pressure relief valve assembly, when taken apart must be in this order.Inspect for corrosion/deterioration. (P/N NG16-004-012)

2. Clean, or replace all parts if damaged. Use Dow Corning III valve lubricant/sealant or equivalent non-curing sealant. Lightly coat rubber seal and spring.

Servicing Pressure Relief Valve

3. Install clean/new parts as shown in the following order. (1) Back seal.

4. Install (2) Front seal.

5. Install (3) Spring and cap.

6. Pressure Setup: Adjust cap until pressure is set to 175 psia as an output on the compres-sor. NOTE: You must use a calibrated pressure gauge (PSIA) to give you this measure-ment. The valve will change with temperature so adjust, run and recheck until unit isstable at 175 psia.

7. Use an 11/16 wrench to turn lock nut toward the adjusting cap.

8. Use a second 11/16 wrench to hold the adjusting cap while you turn the first wrench andlock nut to tighten down to its set point of 175 psia. Keep tightening until lock nut istight and the adjusting cap will not vibrate off.
