Making a basic plaid

STEP 1

Split the threads into

3 sets of 2.

Transfer the set on the extreme right

(blue set) to the middle

(between the yellow and red set)

Transfer the set on the extreme left

(yellow) to the middle

(between the blue and red set)

STEP 4

Repeat Steps 1 and 2

STEP 5

Tape over the basic plaid and separate the sets into 6 individual threads.

STEP 6

Retain the extreme left thread in the right hand.

Transfer the extreme left thread over the thread next to it.

STEP 7

Loop the thread next it over and under the tread retained in the right hand to form a knot.

STEP 8

Tie the knot twice.

STEP 9

After tying 2 knots with the first thread,

move it away to the left.

Repeat making a knot with the next thread while retaining the original thread in the right hand.

STEP 10

When tying the knot, pull the original thread taut while pushing the knots side by side to each other.

STEP 11

Tie the knot twice.

STEP 12

After tying 2 knots with the thread,

move it away to the left.

Repeat making a knot with the next thread while retaining the original thread in the right hand.

Tie the knot twice.

When tying the knot, pull the original thread taut while pushing the knots side by side to each other.

Loop the last thread over and under the original tread that is retained in the right hand to form a knot.

Tie the knot twice.

The first row is completed.

End the complex plaid by separating

the 6 threads into 3 sets of 2 to continue with the basic plaid.
