Recent Events in ScienceDaredevil Skydiver May Attempt Supersonic Jump

Sunday After Delayshttp://www.space.com/18000-supersonic-skydive-felix-baumgartner-sunday.html

Read All About It!An Austrian daredevil will have to

wait until Sunday for his next chance to beat the world record for highest-ever skydive, and break the

sound barrier to boot.Strong winds thwarted Felix Baumgartner's two previous

attempts to leap from a balloon nearly 23 miles above Earth's

surface.Baumgartner plans to ascend to

120,000 feet and then step out into the void. He would thus shatter the skydiving altitude record of 102,800

feet which was set in 1960 by former Air Force Capt. Joe

Kittinger.

UranusUranus is the seventh planet from

the Sun.It has the third-largest planetary

radius and fourth-largest planetary mass in the Solar

System.Uranus is similar in composition to Neptune, and both are of

different chemical composition than the larger gas giants,

Jupiter and Saturn.

UranusUranus rotates on its side – it has an axial

tilt of 98˚.It has a ring system,

but much less extensive than

Saturn’s.

UranusUranus’ Large Moons Have Varied Terrains

NeptuneIn contrast to the relatively

featureless atmosphere of Uranus, Neptune's atmosphere is notable for

its active and visible weather patterns.

For example, at the time of the 1989Voyager 2 flyby, the planet's southern hemisphere possessed

a Great Dark Spot. These weather patterns are driven by the strongest sustained winds of any

planet in the Solar System, with recorded wind speeds as high as

1,300 mph.

NeptuneBecause of its great distance from

the Sun, Neptune's outer atmosphere is one of the coldest places in the Solar System, with temperatures at its cloud tops

approaching −218 °C.Neptune has a faint and

fragmented ring system (labeled 'arcs'), which may have been detected during the 1960s but was only indisputably confirmed

in 1989 by Voyager 2.

NeptuneNeptune has 13 known moons.

Triton is Neptune’s largest  moon.

Triton orbits in the opposite direction from the way all the

planets travel.

It’s atmosphere is mostly nitrogen with a little methane.

Triton exhibits volcanic-like activity

It’s composed largely of water ice, covered with layers of solid nitrogen and methane.
