South Campus

South Campus is located eight miles from the Atlantic coast, between St. Johns Bluff Road and Huffman

Boulevard. South Campus offers a full spectrum of college credit, community education and adult education

classes. Most students at South Campus are seeking an Associate in Arts degree that leads to college or

university transfer, but also offers Associate in Science, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Applied Science

degrees. In addition, South Campus is the site of the Jacksonville Regional Fire/Rescue Training and

Education Center. It houses many of the College’s fine art programs which include the performing arts (dance,

music, theatre) and the visual arts (drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, 3D design). It is also the home

of the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts, a comprehensive performing and visual arts facility.

Cecil Center

After the Navy vacated Cecil Field in August of 1999, the Aviation Center of Excellence was established and is

now called Cecil Center South. The College leases two buildings from the City of Jacksonville and one from the

Jacksonville Aviation Authority which now house the College’s aviation-related programs. Building J houses

the avionics instructional programs. Remodeling these three buildings was followed by construction of a new

46,697 GSF education facility at Cecil Center North on 130 acres owned by the College located to the north of

Normandy Blvd. Additionally, a 6,000 SF Commercial Vehicle Driving facility was constructed along with a

three-quarter mile track and large maneuvering area. Most recently, a new 134,889 GSF Hangar, the Aircraft

Service Educational facility was constructed at Cecil Center South adjacent to the runway in partnership with

the Jacksonville Aviation Authority to teach maintenance, repair, overhaul and aircraft painting. Cecil Center

North was designed as a six building educational center to serve west Duval County.

FSCJ Online/Deerwood Center

Deerwood Center offers traditional “face-to-face” classes, accelerated programming, night and weekend

schedules, and is home to the College's distance learning programs, where convenience and the power of

technology bring students a world of learning options without the limits of time, place or distance. Deerwood

Center features academic classrooms, computer and science labs, a nursing extension program, a digital media

graphics lab and a comprehensive Library & Learning Commons facility which offers tutoring services in

various disciplines, both online and in-person. Enrollment services, counseling, academic and financial aid

advising, business office and an academic skills assessment and testing center are also available.

FSCJ Online provides academic and student support through an extensive network of virtual tools, providing

access to a wide range of self-help resources so that students can develop problem solving and other valuable

technology skills. Faculty support is offered for online course development, course updates and

improvements, development of Learning Objects and OER. Mandatory training for online instruction is

conducted prior to online course assignment and Online Orientation is offered for new online instructors as

needed/appropriate.

The Center for eLearning (CeL) is responsible for all online course development for the College. All CeL-

developed courses/programs are SACS accredited, ADA and copyright compliant, feature consistent course

masters and standardized learning objects, work across any browser on any platform, meet college-prescribed

Student Learning Outcomes and are held to the highest standard of academic quality.

Nassau Center

Nassau Center was constructed on 102 acres in Nassau County to meet the specific needs of local residents. It

is now a full-service center supplemented by course offerings at North Campus and provides conference and

outdoors “team building” training facilities for local organizations and corporations. Currently, the Center has

19 buildings with 118,144 GSF of floor area. A relatively new 47,095 SF building for instructional and support

services was completed in August 2000. More recently, the College, along with the Nassau County School

District, received funding for a joint use Technical Career Center. The completed 44,984 GSF facility provides

for the much needed training for high school and college students in high-demand vocational areas and select

academic areas.
