General Rules to Remember:Vessel operators must be familiar with, and follow, the International Regulations forPrevention of Collision at Sea,1972.Rule 5 - Look-outEvery vessel shall at all times maintain a proper look-out by sight and hearing as well asby all available means appropriate in the prevailing circumstances and conditions so asto make a full appraisal of the situation and of the risk of collision.Rule 6 - Safe SpeedEvery vessel shall at all times proceed at a safe speed so that they can take proper andeffective action to avoid collision and be stopped within a distance appropriate to theprevailing circumstances and conditions.Rule 13 - OvertakingAny vessel overtaking any other shall keep out of the way of the vessel being overtaken.Master of a vessel means the person having the command or charge of the vessel.We advise all rowing craft to enter and exit the course in the designated directionof travel.
