As the war progressed and more blood was shed, Americans began to voice their opposition
The Franco-American alliance was an issue because it required America to support the French in their war with Britain

Washington turned down the two most important requests; they weren’t going to prepay their debt, and Genet couldn’t arm privateers in America for the French
