Benefits to Going GREEN

Improves indoor/outdoor environmental quality

Shippers Warehouse will consider these initiatives infuture industrial developments when possible• Light colored, reflective roofing on warehouse projects, which:

• Helps reflect sunlight and reduces the “heat island” effect. Promotes more efficient HVAC usage.

• Rainwater collection efforts

• Create system to capture and collect rainwater runoff from the roof.

• Water can then be used for a variety of purposes, including landscapemaintenance or vehicle washing.

• Consider contracting with some localities to use “Grey water” for landscape• upkeep.

• Using partially treated waste water to feed lawns and shrubbery. This, plus rainwater recovery, can have a noticeable impact on overall water usage.

• Attempt to use building materials suppliers located within the metropolitan Atlanta area instead of out-of-state suppliers – reduces the amount of mileage trucks need to travel to deliver materials.

• Focus on materials that provide better climate management within warehouses and Distribution Centers.

• Installations of ready rooms in packaging operations. See next slides that follow.

Green Really IS the Color of Money Today

Transportation Footprint…everybody’s talking about it

Global Warming: Do You Believe It? Below is a chart on Global Fossil Carbon Emissions

Belief is Irrelevant- See Oil reserves, production scenario trends

Transportation is more dependent on liquid energy

Transportation accounts for a larger percentage of liquid fuels.

Alternatives such as solar, wind, geothermal and nuclear aren’t practical in transportation
