Foreword

• Russ Davies (out in California) is going through the photo collection of the late Vitally Uzoff and scanning them for the PRS Photo Archives.

• He posted a “mystery photo” this week of a freight motor that he didn’t recognize and neither did most anyone else he sent it to.

I Instantly Recognized It!

• The locomotive was the last remaining electric rail vehicle on the Georgia Power Company roster in Atlanta.

• The locomotive picked up hoppers at the Northside generating plant off of the Atlantic Coast Line and shunted them into the plant for unloading.

Four years trying to catch it in action

• I attended college less than a mile from the location and during four years, I never once managed to catch the unit in action.

• So I shot it over the fence and through the gate.

• I dropped into Atlanta for a day of railfanning and whoopie!

• I caught the unit in action.

Epilogue

• I just checked the satillite map imagery and the entire area has changed radically.

• The ACL branch is long gone and there is no trace of the power plant.

• I can’t even figure out where it was located! • Time marches upward and outward.
