“YOU CAN HAVE UNBELIEVABLE INTELLIGENCE. YOU CAN HAVE CONNECTIONS. YOU CAN HAVE OPPORTUNITIES FALL OUT OF

THE STRATEGY…MANAGE YOUR DIABETES, is an online tool that educates, inspires and allows users to take action in their health. Managed by Morris, there’s a suite of health tools, including a BMI calculator, how to read a nutrition label guide and a calorie counter. Morris also produced an original, three-part video series titled, “Living Well with Diabetes” (LWWD).
– Originally hard-to-navigate, Morris restructured the tool, added new content and health tools.
– She added a community voice and a “call to action” that worked strategically with the company’s other media properties.
– Morris handled the LWWD video’s pre- and post-production, including budgeting, scoping the project (filmed in Florida), finding talent, rough-cutting the video for the video editor’s use and overseeing its post-production release.

THE WORK…HEALTHCAREFORYOU.ORG connects low-income, local residents to health care insurance information and free clinic resources, using a ZIP code-based search database. Morris’ role:
– Managed the site’s redesign and grew the District of Columbia-founded tool to include Chicago and Atlanta.
– Oversaw the design, video and project management teams.
– Coordinated with advisory board members and focus groups to make sure that the tool served the needs of its target audience.
– Wrote and/or edited all featured content and SMS text messages.
Morris expanded the site’s reach by securing a $50,000 grant from the Consumer Health Foundation. Today, the database includes the Maryland and Virginia suburbs of the District.
