Curriculum Day Tomorrow We have several sessions planned for our curriculum day on Friday to support the schoolrsquos wellbeing teaching and learning areas of focus in line with the Annual Implementation Plan
Numeracy We will be looking at lesson structure and differentiation to ensure all students are actively supported by the teacher during each lesson at their point of need This includes extending and supporting all students at a range of abilities with challenging and engaging tasks
Literacy The teachers will be revisiting the use of Toolboxes during writing sessions This ensures students have access to a range of vocabulary and spelling strategies to improve the quality of their writing Other teachers will be exploring ways to further differentiate and provide explicit teaching of comprehension strategies during reading sessions
Digital Technology The new Victorian Curriculum will be the focus for this session Teachers will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the digital technology curriculum and build an understanding of the scope and sequence of learning opportunities from Foundation to Level 678 These will be incorporated into weekly plans
Wellbeing Some members of the wellbeing leadership team have attended two very worthwhile sessions to build the schoolrsquos wellbeing curriculum and supports In line with School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework we are currently updating our values Over the coming year we will be creating a range of documents and expectations around the behaviours and attitudes of the whole school community in our interactions with each other ndash staff students and families Following a workshop on Monday when we looked at our Resilience Survey data we will be addressing several areas to improve studentsrsquo feelings of connectedness to school and peers If you are interested in contributing your ideas for our school values discussions please talk to a school council member Lisa Maxwell or me before our next school council meeting on 21st June
