GRIP LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
On Thursday the 20th of February the Year 6 leadership team
went to the Kawana Events Centre for a leadership
conference. It was a day full of fun activities that taught us
how to be a good leader. The 4 topics were, Leading the
way, Generosity, Ideas to lead the way and Bringing ideas to
life. We met new leaders from other schools and were
encouraged to make a difference inside and outside our
school community. They taught not only how to be a good
leader but also how to be a good person. We were
introduced to new ideas from our school and others. We
learnt a lot about how to take responsibility for our ideas
and bring them to life. Overall it was a wonderful experience
that will stay with us for many years to come.

GLENVIEW KIDS GET TAGGED
The QLD Oztag Junior State Cup was held on the Australia Day weekend, some of our Glenview School students represented their Caloundra Oztag Club to play other teams from all over QLD, even from as far as Townsville. They all played very well in the hot sun over the 3 day event, taking home the QLD Champion team title for the U10 boys and U11 girls, runner-up Champions for the U10 girls, and Quarter Finalists for the U12 girls.
The junior oztag season commences again in Term 4, if any other children are interested in playing then have a chat to one of these guys... “Get Tagged You’ll Love It”

On Friday the 21st of February 8 Glenview students were able to go to the Sunshine Coast University to visit the
Voices on the Coast writer’s festival. The writers that we got to see were George Ivanoff and Morris Gletizman. First George Ivanoff explained how to research for a book and he told us that even made up stories need some re-search. George showed us some slides about how he made up some of his stories and how long it takes him to finish a book. He also made it funny and interesting to listen to. After this we listened to Morris Gleitzman. He talked about how the se-cret to a good book is starting off with an interesting problem for the main charac-ter. He talked to us about how old he was when he started writing novels and what types of novels he writes. He walked around between the students while they asked a lot questions. One of the questions asked was “What did you want to do before you became an author?” The one really important thing that we learnt from Morris Gleitzman is that every good story starts with a main character with a good problem.
