THE PROVERB OF THE FISHERMAN

The old proverb goes:

"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.

If you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."

THE PROVERB OF THE FISHERMAN

The old proverb goes:

"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.

If you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."

Apply this to the Christian life:

If you feed a man

in Jesus’ name, he will live for a day.

If you lead him to become a disciple of

Jesus, he will live forever.

If you teach him how to make disciples, you can reach the whole world! (2 Tim.

2:2)

We could add:

“If you teach him to teach others how to fish,

you can feed the whole world!”

Four Levels of Maturity:

1. A person who is an obedient, growing disciple of Jesus.

Four Levels of Maturity:

2. A person who is helping others become disciples of Jesus.

Four Levels of Maturity:

3. A person who is helping a group of disciples become the Body of Christ (“church”).

Four Levels of Maturity:

4. A person who is helping churches multiply to reach their whole city or people group.

Personal Application:

At which of these four levels

are most Christians?

Personal Application:

At which level are you?

Personal Application:

If you hope to reach a whole community or

people group, at what level do you

need to be?

Personal Application:

With God’s help what level would you like to reach?

As an Ambassador of the Kingdom of God, your callingis to:

•Have a growing relationship with Christ.

•Lead others into a growing relationship with Him in the Body of Christ.

•Train new believers to make disciples and start new churches!

That is how we can reach the whole world!

Do you have a vision?

What is your vision?

How big is your vision?

What makes you cry / weep?

What makes you angry?

What makes you pound the table?

What needs do you feel burdened by

and uniquely qualified to fulfill?

What do you see yourself doing in

20 years?

Who will continue your vision?

What will you leave the next generation?

What will you do before you die?
