Students who read six appropriate books qualify
for a trip to the Egg Bowl with two guests, even
walking on the field during pre-game activities!
There are great prizes and classroom materials
for participating schools, libraries, and teachers.
Every student gets a commemorative bookmark
that supports their favorite team.
Forinformation on howtoregisterforthe contestvisitthe Mississippi Association of Educators website,www.maetoday.nea.org.
WHO CAN WIN:Only Mississippi public school students in grades K-8are eligibletoparticipate.
WHAT EACHSCHOOL WILL RECEIVE:Librarians from each school will receive the following materialsbased on theirnumberof K-8students:
1. ParentLetterwith BookListon the back one foreachstudent
2. Postage-paid Qualifying Cards one foreach student
3. TeacherInformation Letterwith contestrules andregulations on the back one for each teacher
4. Bookmarks one foreach student
5. MAE Champion Certificate is included forthe teachertodistribute when a studentqualifies by reading six books
HOW TO QUALIFY FOREGG BOWL TICKETSAND OTHERPRIZES:Participants mustread six (6)reading level appropriate books,and listthe books read on the BookListForm.Verification thatbooks were read will be submitted on the BookList Form,whichis located on the backof the parentletter. Parents mustsign theBookListForm forstudents tobe eligible towin.
CONTEST DESCRIPTIONS:1. The twowinning students (one forMSU and one forOle
Miss)and twoguests each will receive free tickets tothe
Egg Bowl. They will be guests in the athletic hospitalityroom and visitthe field during the pre-game activities.
2. From all entries,fourParticipating Teachers will each win$500 fortheirclassroom.
3. Teachers whodecorate bulletin boards,doors,or classroomstopromote the contestwill alsobe eligible towin $250 fortheirclassroom. Photosubmissions will be accepted atjwebb@nea.org until November8,2013. Apanel of judgeswill choose the winners.
CONTEST INSTRUCTIONS:ParentLetterthatincludes the BookListform will be senthomewith students atthe beginning of the school yearand thencollected by the teachers nolaterthan November8, 2013.
Parents mustsign the form toverify the books thestudentreads.
When the studenthas completed reading six books,teacherswill collectthe reading forms,fill outa postage paid postcard foreach student,and mail itin toMAE. This enters the studentinthe contest.
The postcard mustinclude the students name, school name,system name,and teachers name and s ignature.
There will be a MSU winnerand an Ole Miss winner. Studentswill choose one team they supportand can only enterthe contestonce. Only K-8Mississippi public school students can participateand win.
Qualifying postcards should be mailed in as studentscomplete theirreading goals. All postcards must bepostmarked byFriday,November8,2013, to be eligible.
MAEis not responsible forlost or misdirected mail orillegible entrypostcards.
Teachers can distribute bookmarks tostudents designatingthey are a memberof the MSU orOle Miss ChampionshipReading Team.
All students whoqualify by reading atleastsix books receive aMAE Champion Certificate.
Winners will be notified byNovember18,2013.Contact the Mississippi Association of Educators
