Geographical position

The territory is primarily situated on the island of Great Britain and in Northern Ireland on the island of Ireland.

The United Kingdom is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean.

The mainland is linked to France by the Channel Tunnel and Northern Ireland shares a land border with the Republic of Ireland.

It is a combination of:- the cross of St.George (England),- the cross of St.Andrew (Scotland)- the cross of St. Patrick (Ireland).

Climate England has a temperate climate, with plentiful

rainfall all year round, though the seasons are quite variable in temperature.

However, temperatures rarely fall below −5 °C or rise above 32 °C.

• Snowfall can occur in Winter and early Spring, though it is not that common away from high ground.
