• to initiate the dialogue among all EU countries for targeted targeted policies and initiativespolicies and initiatives on the consequences of the crisis
• to focus the discussion on economic developmenteconomic development -on the basis of the EU 2020 Strategy- and the creation of sustainable jobs
• to render cohesion policy a more efficient development toolmore efficient development tool with actions for the effective confrontation of the recessive “swamp”
Territorial Dimension
Main theme:““Blue GrowthBlue Growth””accessibility and attractiveness of the “blue areas”how: utilising the “smart specialization strategy”
Our basis:• Territorial Agenda 2020 and Road Map (follow up)• “Europe 2020” Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth• Previous Presidencies
Key Aspects:• Territorial diversity and potential• Endogenous growth utilizing the place – based approach• Functional Areas
Urban Development
Main focus:• Urban poverty and social exclusion city phenomena
In many European Cities mainly in Metropolitan areas, deprived neighborhoods and deprived historical and economic centers of the cities
Our basis:• Initiatives of the previous Presidencies: Youth unemployment (Irish
Presidency), Migration (Lithuanian Presidency)• Documents: “Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities” “Toledo Declaration”
Other issues• Continuation of the dialogue on the European Urban Agenda (NL, in
cooperation with other countries)• Outcome of the Urban Event by European Commission (in cooperation
with the Greek Presidency), 17-18 February 201417-18 February 2014• UN-Habitat III, the European contribution• RFSC (road map action 6), further implementation
Macro – Regional Strategies
• The macro-regional strategies, which concern the basic issues of territorial cohesion and are promoted by the European Territorial Cooperation goals, emerge with particular emphasis in the programming period 2014-2020
• Based on the previous experiences (Baltic Sea, Danube
region) and with the European Commission encouragement, the Mediterranean countries that participate in the Adriatic-Ionian Macro-RegionAdriatic-Ionian Macro-Region strongly support the formulation of the specific Strategy
