A JOURNEY TO THE WORLD OF PORCELAIN

WELCOME TO VISTA ALEGRE

In this brochure, we will explain the tour schedules we offer to organized and professional tourism groups by advance appointment. There are guided tours for exploring the local landscape and history, and visits to the museum to learn about the world of decorative arts and industrial heritage. We also offer workshops that focus on interacting with materials to encourage creativity and experimentation.

GUIDED TOURS

GUIDED TOUR OF THE VISTA ALEGRE MUSEUM

A guided tour of the Vista Alegre Museum promises a journey through the world of decorative arts and industrial ceramics. This option includes a visit to the factory’s Hand-Painting Workshop and to the Capela da Nossa Senhora da Penha de França (Chapel of Our Lady of Penha de França), dating from the late 17th century, classified as a national monument.

NON-GUIDED TOUR OF THE VISTA ALEGRE MUSEUM

This program includes a guided tour of the Chapel of Our Lady of Penha de França, a national monument dating from the late 17th century, and an introduction at the museum’s reception area. The rest of the museum visit is open in nature, and includes entry to the factory’s Hand-Painting Workshop.

THE WORKERS’ DISTRICT, WHERE I WAS BORN

Embark on a journey back in time, and hear stories about the Vista Alegre Neighborhood, narrated in the first person. We will travel down paths, remember people, (re)discover spaces left behind by time, and learn that there are always new stories to tell.

WORKSHOP TOURS

VISTA ALEGRE, ART OF PAINTING

Guided tour of the Museum, including the factory’s Hand-Painting Workshop, together with a workshop with ceramic paints. An initiation to the art of ceramic decoration, which teaches the basic skills of painting with a brush, supervised by specialized Vista Alegre painters.

THERE’S MUSIC IN VISTA ALEGRE PORCELAIN

This program aims to interactively explore one of the distinguishing features of porcelain: its sound. It includes a visit to the Vista Alegre Museum and Chapel, as well as a workshop using Vista Alegre pieces as instruments, which come to life musically. The challenge is for everyone: to demystify the construction and performance of music, through informal, entertaining experiences which cultivate the body and mind.
