GAYATRI VIDYA PARISHAD
Gayatri Vidya Parishad (GVP), a pioneer Educational
Society in the City of Destiny, Visakhapatnam, was established
and registered (Regd.No.510/88) on 28th September 1988 with a
view to serving the cause of higher education by an ardent group of
erudite academicians and philanthropic persons. Prof. Bhavaraju
Sarveswara Rao, former Prof. of Economics, Andhra University
who had the privilege of having Diplomatic career as Economic
Advisor to Govt. of East Nigeria, and also served as Vice-
chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University was the founder
President. Another stalwart in the field of academics, Dr. B.
Swamy, former member of All India Medical Council and former
Vice-Chancellor, Acharya Nagarjuna University succeeded Prof.
Sarveswara Rao. Yet another distinguished personality, former
VUDA Chairman, former Mayor GVMC and former two- time
Chairman, Bar Council of India, (Late) Sri D.V. Subba Rao also
served as the president of GVP upto 2014. Sri A.S.N. Prasad,
Philanthropist, Former President of Vizag Chamber of Commerce,
dynamic member in many reputed organizations like Lions Club,
Rotary Club etc. is the present President of GVP.
With the guiding spirit of these and other learned
luminaries, GVP established a College for Degree and PG
Courses, a College of Engineering (A), a College of Engineering
for Women(Kommadi Campuses) and other centers such as Centre
for Policy Studies, GVP Centre for the Study of Human and Spiritual
Values, Centre for the Study of Gandhian Philosophy and Human
Development, Indo - German Institute of Advanced Technology,
and Kasturba Centre for Women’s Studies.

Since independence, India had made great strides in Education that kept
pace with the changes that were brought on account of educational and
technological, revolution. This has led to the establishment of centres of
excellence in Engineering and Technology, Medicine, Agriculture, Scientific research and Management studies. Gayatri Vidya Parishad is one
such Non-profitable educational Society started in 1988 stands as testimony
to the commitment of successive Governments for the cause of Quality Education in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The members of the
Management, all academicians thought that, not only quality education but
also value based education should be their mission and motto. The autonomous status conferred on our institution helps us achieve the destined
goals by designing course structures to prove that education is for life and
not mere qualification.
GVP has specific mission and vision to develop courses with
flexibility so that the students can study any specific course and
gain experience in a different avocation that should lead to gainful
employment.
To incorporate human values into the curriculum that leads to All-
round development, of the personality of the individual.
To design curriculum so as to provide trained competent personal
with problem solving skills.
To advance student-driven learner-centered approaches to
education.
In order to achieve the set goals, a good library with about
80,000 books and periodicals in all disciplines and digital access, well equipped Laboratory facilities including English language Laboratory,
Seminar halls, e-class rooms, Wi-fi enabled campus with all student
amenities and provided in addition to well-qualified devoted and
dedicated faculty.it is because of all the facilities ambiance and
commitment to the cause of education. Gayatri Vidya Parishad College
for Degree and P.G. Courses (A) is credited with 85th Rank at NIRF at National Level.

Principal's Message
I welcome the new aspiring students of Under Graduate and Post
Graduate Courses to one of the premier institutions in the State of Andhra
Pradesh, India, The Great Abode of Learning, GAYATRI VIDYA
PARISHAD COLLEGE FOR DEGREE AND P.G. COURSES
(AUTONOMOUS).
I also congratulate all the senior students who have come out
successfully in flying colours in their final Examinations. The
management provides all amenities and state of the art equipment for the
students. It is imminent on them to utilize the same optimally. The vision
of the college is Creating Human Excellence for a Better Society. To
accomplish this, we endeavor to impart quality education including
restructured courses as per societal demands.
From a 240 intake of the first batch, the college rose to an intake of
approximately 4530 number which is a positive indication of constant
pursuit of human excellence and successfully able to retain the trust of
its stakeholders to meet the demands of the changing trends of the
society. The college has carved a niche of its own by securing a rank in the
top 100 list of the NIRF ranking and 3rd rank across the state of Andhra
Pradesh.
The college emphasizes on Personality Development Activities,
Human Values and Ethics which go a long way in building the students'

OUR INSTITUTION:
The Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and P.G.
Courses ever since its establishment has been progressing
tremendously and today it is one of the premier institutions in the
state of Andhra Pradesh run with the funds generated by itself.
The College was accredited by NAAC with B++ Grade
and conferred Autonomy by the UGC and the Andhra University
in April 2007 and is in the second cycle of Autonomy. The
responsibility of the College has been increased with the
accreditation and the conferment of Autonomy for establishing a
conducive academic atmosphere for learning and enable the student
to develop a holistic personality and make the student adaptable to
any situation.
THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COLLEGE:
The goals & objectives of this great edifice of learning are
To provide a strong foundation to the students for building
sound theoretical as well as practical base in the chosen
areas of specialization along with effective communication
skills.

COURSES OFFERED:
Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and

P.G.Courses was established in 1989 offering Under Graduate
programmes in Science, Arts and Commerce with innovative and
restructured combinations including Computer Science and
Electronics, in addition to the traditional combinations.
Biosciences were introduced from the year 2005 - 2006. B.C.A.
was introduced from the year 2017-18.
Engineering Under Graduate courses have been introduced
in the year 2011-12 in various disciplines affiliated to Andhra
University.
Post Graduate Courses were started from 1993 - 94 in various
disciplines affiliated to Andhra University. These courses were
conferred autonomous status from 2009-2010.

The Gayatri Vidya Parishad founded by eminent
academicians and administrators acknowledges the fact that well
qualified and experienced members of Staff are necessary for
translating its vision, mission and goals into reality. Over the years
the Management recruited and retained a number of young and
dynamic teachers and invited the services of elderly and
experienced teachers who strive for academic excellence and
research and consultancy to create the right kind of learning
ambience in this accredited, autonomous Institution.
The College has 169 well qualified teaching staff, most of
them possessing Ph.D / M.Phil / M. Tech. Degrees in their
respective subjects. Of the remaining faculty most of them have
enrolled for Doctoral programmes / M.Techs and are pursuing. All
the faculty members actively engage in research and wherever
possible, undertake consultancy assignments also. There are more
than 129 Non-Teaching Staff supporting the faculty for the smooth
administration.

INFRASTRUCTURE:
Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and
P.G.Courses is located in two campuses, the 8.7 acre lush green
Rushikonda Campus with well-ventilated spacious class rooms,
well equipped laboratories, library, play fields, canteen, parking
places, Gym, Staff Rooms, Common rooms, Auditorium, Air
Conditioned Seminar Halls etc. besides the four storied Campus at
M.V.P. Colony having all the necessary modern amenities and has
been successful in creating and sustaining the right kind of
teaching learning ambiance.
LABORATORIES:
The College has well equipped exclusive laboratories in
Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Microbiology,
Biotechnology, Biochemistry besides engineering labs. The Labs
are upgraded regularly to meet the changing needs. There is a
Communication Lab specially designed to enhance the
communication skills of the students and prepare them for
employment market. The campus is WiFi enabled with 24/7 high
speed internet connectivity.
LIBRARY:
The College has two well stocked Libraries one in each
campus endowed with spacious reading areas. There are a total of
13483 titles with 68,189 volumes including latest text and reference
books in addition to a number of journals and periodicals in the
relevant subjects offered in the College. The College subscribes to
80 National and International Journals besides 80,000 e-Books,
6,000+ e-Journals and 300000 e-books. Online data base
accessible includes IEEE, EBSCO, DEL NET, NDL, NDLI,
NPTEL etc., The College Library is open from 8 am to 7pm on
working days and 9am to 1pm Sunday.
SEMINAR HALLS:
There are 8 spacious air conditioned seminar halls, with

state of the art audio visual equipment wherein seminars,
workshops, conferences etc., are organized.
AUDITORIUM:
There is a centrally air conditioned auditorium built in an
area of 5100 sft. With a seating capacity of 500. National or
International Seminars are hosted in the auditorium in addition to
large meetings and annual convocation.
OTHER AMENITIES:
HOSTELs:
There is a hostel on campus for girl students with well-furnished
rooms to accommodate 100 students. Admission to Hostel is on first
come first serve basis. Hostel for boys is provided in the town with
free transport facility to College. Special security is provided to the
hostel which is under CCTV surveillance and a full time caretaker.
It has uninterrupted power supply and wi-fi facility 24X7.
CANTEEN:
The College has a well maintained hygienic canteen which
can accommodate 300 students at a time. It provides Tiffin, Snacks
and Meals for the students at subsidized rates.
BUS FACILITY:
The College has well maintained number of comfortable
buses in all the directions with 50 capacity seats in each bus.
ACADEMIC FRAME WORK
AUTONOMY
Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and P.G.
Courses has opted for Autonomous status from 2007 with a view to
improving the quality and modernizing the curricula and making
them locally and globally relevant.
As an Autonomous College, there are continuous effects to
modernize teaching pedagogy and achieve higher standards of
academic excellence and greater employability. The focus on
providing value based education by encouraging the students to

actively participate in extension activities like community service,
spiritual programmes etc. Autonomous status has helped the college
to strengthen not only the academic content but the system of
evaluation as well. All this has been possible due to the
contribution of several bodies like -
GOVERNING BODY (GB)
The Governing Body of the College is the apex body of
decision making shall make all policy decisions. It consists of
eminent academicians and educationists who have devoted
themselves to the cause of education.
ACADEMIC COUNCIL: (AC)
The Academic Council is the Principal decision making
body of the College and relating to academics. It has the
responsibility of maintaining standards of education, teaching and
training, inter-departmental co-ordination, research, curriculum
approval and examinations within the College. It shall also
exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and
functions as may be prescribed and conferred upon it by the
Governing Body. The decisions taken by the AC shall not be subject
to any further ratification.
BOARD OF STUDIES: (BOS)
The Board of Studies of each department in the College
prepares, make changes to the syllabus for its department concerned
keeping in view the objectives of the College, local and national
requirements and places it for consideration and approval by the
Academic council.
EXAMINATION COMMITTEE: (EC)
The Examination Committee along with the Controller of
Examinations is responsible for smooth conduct of various
examinations internal as well as external during the academic year
and declaration of results in time. It shall review the results before
declaration. It examines any type of malpractice and recommends
action. The College Examination Committee has all the rights to
cancel the candidature of any candidate who indulges in
malpractice of any kind. It recommends the fee structure for

various examinations. It issues direction for preparation of marks
lists and original degree certificates.
INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)
Quality assurance is a by - product of the ongoing efforts
to accomplish the objectives of the institution and impart sustained
quality education catering to the needs of the society. The
Management, College Administration, Staff and the students are
the four pillars of the institution which interact constantly with in a
well-conceived cybernetic loop operating among the above four
integral components of the college. The IQAC strives for the
development and application of quality bench marks in various
activities of the Institution and dissemination of information on
quality aspects. It organizes discussions, workshops, and seminars
and promotes quality circles. It records and monitors quality
assessment of the institution to achieve academic excellence.
INDUSTRY INSTITUTE PARTNERSHIP CELL (IIPC):
This Cell has been started with the support of AICTE and is
aimed at forging a cordial relationship between the College and
industry. This cell arranges students' visit to industry, lectures on
topics beyond the syllabus by experts from the industry, student
projects/internships in industry. It facilitates placements through its
networking with the industry. The College is an institutional
member of the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) which helps it
to build strong linkages with the industry.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC):
EDC has been started with the objective of nurturing and
sustaining entrepreneurship among the younger generation and
especially girls. The cell organizes skill development workshops,
interaction sessions with successful entrepreneurs, workshops on
institutional support available and policy initiatives of government
to promote entrepreneurship etc.
CAREER GUIDANCE AND PLACEMENT CELL:
There is an exclusive Placement Cell with a Dean-
Placements and Placement officers for individual programs to take
care of placement activity. This Cell arranges career counseling
and guidance programs by both faculties of the College and

external experts. It also arranges soft skills training programs
relating to development of communication skills and leadership
qualities. It prepares the students to face effectively various
competitive examinations and entrance tests such as ICET, MAT,
CAT, AUCET, IBPS, RRB, GATE, NET etc.
The College attracts a good number of reputed companies
reputed for placements. Some of the companies that visit the
Campus regularly for providing recruitment are Wipro, Tech
Mahendra, ICICI,TCS, Cognizant Technologies, HSBC, Genpact,
Capital IQ, Airtel, Coca-cola, L&T etc. Many of our students are
selected by these companies and placed in good positions.
Because of the constant motivation given by the members
of the staff in general and the Placement Cell in particular 80% of
total eligible students of the College get employment in various
industries. In the case of Undergraduate students some of the
companies even agree to sponsor them for higher education after
completion of stipulated service in the company. This facility
provides the student an exposure to industry- environment and also
a chance for pursuing higher studies free of cost.
The Placement Cell organizes the following activities for
enhancing the employability of the candidates

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT (P.D) ACTIVITIES:
The College has interacted the P.D. sessions in to the time -
table. In these sessions students are motivated to improve their
communication skills and interpersonal skills by their personal
participation and also by observation. Five marks in the
continuous evaluation are ear-marked for participation in P.D.
Activities. These sessions help the students face interviews and
participate in group discussions confidently.
ACADEMIC AND CAREER COUNSELLING BY
MENTORS:
As the students require proper motivation, guidance and
counseling to overcome their problems and to achieve high
academic standards by developing their Personality, Counseling is
provided by the Mentors attached to groups of students. The
Mentors act as their "Friend, Philosopher and Guide" and develop
rapport with the students. The Mentors also consolidate the
attendance, prepare the progress report and provide guidance to
the students in building confidence and enhancing awareness
levels.
RAGGING FREE CAMPUS
Every attempt is made to ensure that the campus and
hostels remain ragging free. Ragging is strictly prohibited in and
around the campus under A.P. Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997. An
anti-ragging Committee with students and faculty from each
department is constituted to prevent ragging. There are anti-
ragging squads which keep a strict vigil in this aspect. If any
student is found indulging in ragging of any kind he or she will be
sent out of the College by issuing T.C.
GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE
The Grievance Redressal Committee meets regularly to
address the student grievances and settles them promptly.
Suggestion/complaints boxes are provided at vantage points to give
the students on opportunity to put forward their complaints and
seek redressal or offer suggestions for improvement. There is

SCHOLARSHIPS:
Applications of all eligible S.C, S.T and B.C students
claiming Social Welfare Scholarships are processed through the
Office of the Principal to Social Welfare Department for grant of
Scholarships.
An amount of Rs 3,56,08,315/- was received from the
Government and the amount was disbursed among 1736 students
in the last Academic year 2017-18.

PLAY COURTS:
The College has a good play ground spread over two acres
of land. Qualified Physical Directors are employed to train the

Established in the year 2006 with the funding from UGC, the
Centre has been striving to create awareness on Gandhian
Philosophy among the students and nurture values in them for a
harmonious future. National seminars and lectures are organized to
realize the objective of upholding Gandhian values.
Yi STUDENTS’ NET (YUVA):
It is the student wing of the Confederation of Indian
Industry (CII) working towards building leadership and social
sensitivity among the students. They have organized several
programs on road safety, literacy campaigns among schools in
slums, awareness on sites of historical and archeological
importance besides workshops.

DRESS CODE
The Dress Code is strictly implemented in the College.
Every UG student must wear the prescribed uniform on all days in
the week except Saturday. Further, the student is required to wear
the uniform on all examination days and special occasions. On
Saturdays they can come to the college in formal wear. All the P.G.
Students are required to come in formal wear. On Special
occasions, they should come in specified uniform.
BAN ON CELL PHONES:
The use of mobile phones or other telecommunication
devices is not allowed on the campus during the working hours. If
any faculty observes a student using a mobile phone during the
working hours, the instrument will be confiscated and handed over
to the Principal. The instrument shall be returned to the student or
to the student's parent at the end of the working day after paying the
imposed fine. If the student continues non-compliance with this
regulation the instrument will be seized.
General Information:
The students should always carry their Identity Cards for entry into the campus.
The candidate should come to the college in the prescribed uniform, failing which entry will be restricted.
Student Concessional Bus Passes are issued to students on demand to travel by APSRTC buses.
For issue of Railway Concession Forms, permanent

address must be clearly mentioned in the application at the
time of admission. This address should refer to the residential address of the parents.
Any form of misbehavior/ misconduct on the campus including ragging, eve-teasing or altercations with co-students or staff will be dealt with very severely.
At the time of admission the U.G. candidates and their parents
are provided with a declaration form, stating the rules and
regulations to be followed by the students during their course of
study in the College. This form has to be duly signed and
submitted.
General instructions related to use of Library:
Every student shall show his/her identity card for gaining
entry to the Library.
Strict Silence shall be observed in the library.
Hand bags, books, magazines, files, boxes, umbrellas and
other containers should not be brought into the library and
reading room.
No one shall under line any part of the book / fold the
edges of the pages or tear pages.
They shall handle the books with care. They shall be
penalized for wrong handling.
They shall not misplace the books and cause inconvenience
to others. Such misconduct shall be met with punishment.
Each student is provided with a library ticket, which will
entitle the student to borrow three books at a time.
No one is allowed to retain a book for more than 15 days. If
a book is not returned to the Library within the due date,
prescribed fine will be levied which varies with time.
The Library remains open from 8 am to 7 pm on all working
days. On Sundays and public holidays it remains open from
8am to 1pm.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR
THREE-YEAR (6 SEMESTER) DEGREE EXAMINATIONS Qualification for admission into three-year degree course Any student who passed 12th standard CBSE / Intermediate /
Vocational (Intermediate) or any other examination recognized as
equivalent there to by Andhra University / Board of Intermediate
Education, Andhra Pradesh. Semester-end Examination
A candidate shall be allowed to appear for the Semester-end
examination (SE) after completion of the regular course of study for
about 16 weeks on remitting the prescribed examination fee provided
that he / she is not otherwise ineligible. The candidate shall have to
pay the tuition fee within given schedule to become eligible to claim

himself / herself to be a student of the college.
Continuous Evaluation
There shall be internal assessment consisting of two unit tests
(UT) of 25 marks each for each paper carrying a total weightage of
25% of the maximum marks. There shall be no provision for
betterment in UT. In case of BBA an additional weightage of 5% in
each paper shall be given for participation in seminars and
personality development activities. UT and this additional weightage
shall be finally averaged to 25%. Submission of examination application
The eligible candidate shall appear for SE and subject to certification
by the respective mentor to the effect that he/she has put in the
requisite attendance.
The candidate shall submit the examination application with in the
stipulated time by paying the prescribed fee remittance through
online SBI collect window as per the steps given in the payment
gateway. Examination application can be submitted after due date
only by remitting late fee. If the candidate remits examination fee in
time and does not submit the application he is not liable to appear for
SE.
Indulgence in unfair means in examination Indulgence in unfair means like possession / use of forbidden or
incriminating material, copying from the material during
examination, misbehavior with the invigilating staff or causing
disturbance to the conduct of examinations shall attract punishment.
Such cases of unfair means shall be reported to the Chief
Superintendent of the Examinations by the invigilators. The
Examination Committee of the college decides the quantum of
punishment for such unfair means based on the evidence and gravity
of the offence. Procedure of valuation and revaluation of answer scripts

Single external valuation system is followed for all UG
Semester-end examinations. There is provision of revaluation of
theory papers. Revaluation of scripts will be entertained only up to
30 days from the declaration of result.
Pass Mark Pass criterion is as follows:
(i) A candidate shall secure 35% of marks (26 out of 75 Marks) in
the internal assessment (IA) and in SE 40%. The pass mark is
40% of IA and SE put together i.e., 25% IA +75% marks SE. (ii) There shall be no passing minimum for IA. (iii) Passing minimum in the Practical Examination / viva-voce shall
be 50%.
(iv) Weightage for theory and practical are 100 and 50 marks
respectively i.e., in the ratio of 2:1.
(v) In case of re-admission the student shall take admission into I
Semester only.
(v) SGPA & CGPA shall be calculated by the new grading system
and the new grading table adopted by Andhra University at the
suggestion of UGC is as follows:

The class / grade is determined on the basis of the aggregate
of marks secured in all the six semesters put together / Cumulative
Grade Point Average (CGPA). The results shall be published at the
end of each semester and marks / grade sheet is issued by the college
to the candidate. After completion of VI SE and practical
examinations, a list of successful candidates, based on the grade
secured in all the six semesters put together and the results are
published.
Andhra University issues consolidated marks / grade list,
Provisional and Original Degree Certificates. The decision of the
Examinations Committee is final and in any dispute in any matter /
interpretation thereof.
Clearance of backlog papers
If a candidate fails SE he / she may appear in subsequent SE,
with the same syllabus up to two more chances only. Beyond two
such chances, the candidate shall have to appear with the syllabus in
force.
Instant examination
A candidate who could not complete the 3 year (6 Semester)
degree course owing to failure in any one theory / practical
examination of final year i.e., V or VI semester shall be permitted to
appear for the same in the instant examination. Instant examination
will be held within one month of the publication of results of the VI
SE.
Advanced Supplementary Examination
Advanced supplementary examinations will be held only

when Andhra University notifies.
Provision for betterment
There is a provision for betterment. A Candidate after all the
semesters shall be permitted to reappear for any one semester and the
following conditions shall apply:
i. Candidates shall appear for all theory papers only in that
semester.
ii. Candidates shall be required to pay the prescribed for
betterment.
iii. The betterment chance shall be given to a candidate up to two
years after successful completion of the course.
Attendance
A candidate shall be required to attend not less than 75% of
the theory classes and 90% of the practical classes in each subject
during each semester. The Principal may grant condonation of
shortage of attendance in exceptional cases for a valid reason of
absence up to a maximum of 10%. Unauthorized absence of any
student from the classes is not allowed since all the courses are full-
time. If a student applies for leave on medical grounds he / she shall
enclose a Medical Certificate to the leave letter.
However, the Principal may grant an additional condonation
for those candidates who represented the University/State in any
inter-university or national camp(s), competition(s), games or sports
or any national event during the relevant period of absence.
Credit system
The College adopted credit system as per the guidelines of
Andhra University (vide Resolution No. 2 (AC-03/07-08) of the
Third Meeting of the Academic Council held on 30-03-2008).
As per the UGC guidelines the evaluation system and
computation of the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) based

on student's performance in examinations has been implemented
from 2015-16 admitted batch onwards.
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)
The CBCS provides an opportunity for the students to choose courses
from those prescribed comprising core, elective/minor or skill based.

The campus consists of :
1. Engineering and Technology Program (Counseling Code: GVPT) 2011

All these three schools are affiliated to Andhra University,
Visakhapatnam.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The infrastructure include dexterously designed Class rooms,
Laboratories, Seminar halls, Central Library, Canteen, Rest rooms, Gym,
Play courts, internal roads etc.
Class Rooms: There are spacious, well-ventilated and furnished class
rooms of more than specified dimensions with all the necessary electrical fittings for connecting advanced teaching aids such as OHPs and systems.
Laboratories: Each laboratory is equipped with all the latest gadgets,
with adequate equipment and apparatus required for conducting practical in a systematic manner.
Computer Laboratories: There are ten computer Laboratories with 425
state of the art systems, equipment and provisions. All the systems are from branded companies with strain free LCD or LED monitors and are
supported by 60 KVA and 40 KVA online Uninterrupted Power backup.
The special feature of the computer laboratories is that they are connected
to 10 MBPS 24 hours optical fibre Leased line Internet 1:1 pure. It has been identified has online competitive examination centre for banks & other
recruitment authorities under MOU with TCS.
Language Laboratory: There is an AC language laboratory with the state
of the art technology for the practice of pronunciation and speech and also for making presentations and group discussion. These presentations and group discussions are recorded with the help of video cams and played back to the students for correcting their defects.
Seminar Halls: There are richly furnished AC seminar Halls for each of
where Regional, State and National Seminars are held by inviting resource persons and Guest Faculty from all over the country and abroad to enhance the knowledge base of the students.
Library: There is a seperate salubrious Library in the campus catering to
the academics research needs of the students and staff of the School of Engineering. It has exquisite collection of 7,353. 24 National Journals, 40 Inter National Journals, 545 CDs, 1240 Project reports and 122 online Lectures(NPTEL). The library is fully automating using SOUL SOFTWARE. The accession of a book can be made using the Online Public Accession Catalogue. The books in the library and the Student-ID cards are Bar- coded and Bar code Laser Scanners are used in the circulation counter for book transaction.
The Library also houses DIGITAL LIBRARY with the Network build up of fiber optic 10 MBPS leased line. The digital library has 10 computer terminals to access E-resources. The entire library has WI-FI facility, the library is subscribing for 4 E-journals. Online data bases especially for engineering students namely IEEE, ASME, ASCE are subscriped.
The central library offers E-access service, Digital library service, photocopying service, Circulation service, Reference service, Book-bank service and Inter library Loan service. The working hours of the library, Monday - Friday: 8 AM to 7 PM, Sundays and Holidays 9 AM to 1 PM, are suitable to the temporal convenience of the students.
Reading Room: The reading room attached to the Library accommodates
people at a time where in students can have access to subject as well as
General Knowledge books, Magazines, Journals, weeklies, dailies and
News papers.

The four branches in the School of Engineering are:
CIVIL ENGINEERING
Civil Engineering is the basic engineering which caters the development needs of common man. The students are exposed to the knowledge of construction of various types of buildings, bridges, roads, industries, irrigation projects etc. The students are also exposed to various laboratories of Structural Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering and Material Testing laboratories. They deal with water treatment and supply to public as well as industries.

Surveying, Structural Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Geo-Technical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Remote sensing, GIS and Computer Aid Design (CAD).
Fields of Growth:
Lot of growth is taking place in adopting new techniques of construction materials. Eco-friendly operations and Green Buildings. Water Supply and Wastewater treatment, Industrial Waste Treatment & Environmental Management.
Career Prospects:
Both public and private including MNCs are in need of Civil
Engineers. Federal sectors like PWD, R & B, Irrigation and NTPC take
bulk recruitments and conduct APPSC & UPSC and IES. Private
Corporations like TCS, L & T, Continental Constructions, GAMON India
Ltd. etc are top class civil engineering companies.
COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
Computer Science and Engineering is the branch of Engineering
in which the students are trained in the science of practical and theoretical foundations of Information Technology and computation. The students are
exposed to sophisticated computer laboratories and latest trends in
Computer Science and Engineering.
Fields of Exposure:
Mathematical Foundations, Boolean Logic, Theory of Computation,
Data Structures, Analysis of algorithms, Compilers, Networking,

industries especially steel, coal, mining, cement, defence, power, railways
etc.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Mechanical engineering, one of the oldest and the most sought
after courses have the width and breadth for producing engineering
graduates with knowledge as well as perseverance and diligence to pursue
any course in their path of life which will be fruitful with the input that is
given by the courses that they learn during the time of graduation.
The future of the field of mechanical has, is and always be open
and ever alluring and productive in terms of producing jobs as well as
career opportunities for furthering their knowledge in their chosen fields of
endeavor.
Job opportunities in companies like L&T, Sujana infrastructure,
Mahindra and Mahindra, TVS, TISCO, Intergraph in the mechanical
specialization and information technology related companies like TCS,
Infosys, Mahindra Satyam, Sonata, Wipro are also visiting our group for
placements on a regular basis every year.
The field is open for study after graduation to pursue post graduation
in the specialization from various IIT's, NIT's and top notch institutes in a
plethora of disciplines which range from design, heat transfer, thermal
engineering, production engineering etc., to a more new and upcoming
fields like non conventional sources of energy. Pursuance of diploma in
management from various reputed institutes like IIM, Symbiosis, IIPM etc.,
is also a very viable and lucrative scenario to advance the career options
of students.
PLACEMENT CELL AND PLACEMENTS:
There is a separate placement cell for each of the Schools of
Engineering, Management and Computer Applications. The placement cell
is constituted with subject experts, language and soft skill trainers.
The job of the college does not end in making the students acquire
their degrees with distinction. By gaining credibility, it should also attract
the attention of industry and company that offer jobs to the students. The
School of Management Studies has the reputation over the years to attract
top industries and companies to its campus. The companies include WIPRO,

Distribution, Amar Raja Batteries, Airtel etc. The alumni are in high positions

SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING STUDENTS IN
INTERCOLLEGIATE GAMES AND SPORTS
We are quite aware that Games and Sports facilitate a spirit of
competition that calls into play the talent, stamina, perseverance,
confidence, zeal and determination. It is rightly said that the battle of
Waterloo is won in the play fields of Eton. Hence, we have been providing
games and sports facilities in the college premises under the guidance of
our physical director Mr. R.B. Anantharao. Our students participated in
Inter Collegiate games and sports and won several prizes including the
students of School of Engineering. Besides these, our students participated
in the intramural competitions held in connection with Annual Day
Celebrations Literary and cultural activities
In addition to academics, we have been providing opportunities for

The School of computer applications is offering two computer

The department of Computer Applications was established in 1993
and the department of M. Sc Computer Science in 1998. The intake of
MCA has been 120 since 2008 as per the AICTE norms. The department
has attained autonomous status from the year 2009. The School of Computer Applications is acclaimed for its academic and research
accomplishments from its inception.
The School of Computer Applications has flourishing track record
in Pass percentage as well as Placement. Every year reputed companies like Infosys, TCS, CTS, Wipro, Virtusa, Soliver, Cordys Mahindra Satyam
etc visit the campus and recruited good number of students from the
department. The placement percentage is 80% of the qualified.
The Courses offered by the school meet the requirements of both
industry and research. The curriculum is designed to train the students in
developing application programs (Software) and also designing and developing computing systems (Hardware).
The members of the faculty of are actively engaged in research in
the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Data & Knowledge Management, Software Engineering, Image Processing, Theoretical Computer Science,
Cryptography, Algorithms, Bio-informatics and Data Ware Housing & Data

VINUTHNA
'National Level Students Meet' to provide an opportunity to

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR P.G.COURSES
Eligibility
Any graduate is eligible for admission into two / three year
(4/6 Semester) post graduate degree courses viz.,
M.Sc./M.C.A./M.B.A./ M.H.R.M. as per the qualifications and rules
and regulations prescribed by Andhra University from time to time.
CONTINUOUS EVALUATION Weightage
The student is required to appear for two Mid-Semester
Internal Assessment Tests conducted before the Semester-end
Examinations. The average of these two Tests is taken as Internal
Marks.
The weightage of internal marks for various courses shall be
as follows:
(a) For M.B.A., M.C.A. and M.Sc. (Computer Science): 30
per cent
(b) For all other P.G. Courses: 20 per cent of the maximum marks of the paper.
The above weightage in each paper shall include participation
in Seminars/ Assignments and Attendance/Personality development
activities etc.
(a) The Semester-end Examination shall be for maximum of
70 marks in each paper for M.B.A., M.C.A. and M.Sc. (Computer Science).
(b) The Semester-end Examination each paper for all other
P.G. Courses shall be for a maximum of 80 marks.
Candidates are required to write the answers of all papers in English only.

The minimum pass mark shall be 40 percent in Semester-end
Examinations for all the papers.
Pass mark for Science / Computer applications
The passing minimum shall be 40 percent in Semester-end
Examinations for all papers. A candidate shall be declared to have
passed if he / she obtain a minimum over all aggregate of 50 percent
in all papers taken together in each semester. SGPA & CGPA shall be calculated following the new grading
system adopted by Andhra University at the suggestion of UGC.

Procedure of valuation and revaluation of Answer Scripts, paper
setting and Examiner ship details
1 There is double valuation system for all P.G. Examinations as
per the practice in Andhra University.
2 Following is the pattern for valuation of Answer scripts and
declaration of results:
(a) The average of first and second valuation marks shall be
the final marks for declaration of results.

(b) In the case of difference between the first and second
valuation exceeds 25% the maximum marks of the
examination (i.e., 18 in case of 70 marks paper and 20 in
case of 80), the script will referred to third valuation.
(c) Candidates can apply for revaluation separately.
Information about revaluation fees, last date and the
procedure for applying for revaluation etc., is intimated
through a circular. The total process will be completed
within 15 days after the declaration of results. In case of
revaluation, the better of the original mark (OM) and
revaluation mark shall be the final mark. In case of a
difference of 25% between OM and revaluation mark, the
script will be referred for second revaluation. In such
cases, the average of the three valuations (OM, I and II
revaluations) shall be the final mark. Publication of results, clearance of Backlog papers and provision
for betterment

Code of Conduct for Students
DRESS CODE
The Dress Code is strictly implemented in the College. Every UG student must wear
the prescribed uniform on all days in the week except Saturday. Further, the student is
required to wear the uniform on all examination days and special occasions. On Saturdays
they can come to the college in formal wear. All the P.G. Students are required to come in
formal wear. On Special occasions, they should come in specified uniform.
BAN ON CELL PHONES:
The use of mobile phones or other telecommunication devices is not allowed on the
campus during the working hours. If any faculty observes a student using a mobile phone
during the working hours, the instrument will be confiscated and handed over to the Principal.
The instrument shall be returned to the student or to the student's parent at the end of the
working day after paying the imposed fine. If the student continues non-compliance with this
regulation the instrument will be seized.
General Information:
The students should always carry their Identity Cards for entry into the campus.
The candidate should come to the college in the prescribed uniform, failing which entry
will be restricted.
Student Concessional Bus Passes are issued to students on demand to travel by APSRTC
buses.
For issue of Railway Concession Forms, permanent address must be clearly mentioned
in the application at the time of admission. This address should refer to the residential
address of the parents.
Any form of misbehavior/ misconduct on the campus including ragging, eve-teasing or
altercations with co-students or staff will be dealt with very severely.
At the time of admission the U.G. candidates and their parents are provided with a
declaration form, stating the rules and regulations to be followed by the students during
their course of study in the College. This form has to be duly signed and submitted.
General instructions related to use of Library:
Every student shall show his/her identity card for gaining entry to the Library.
Strict Silence shall be observed in the library.
Hand bags, books, magazines, files, boxes, umbrellas and other containers should not
be brought into the library and reading room.
No one shall under line any part of the book / fold the edges of the pages or tear pages.
They shall handle the books with care. They shall be penalized for wrong handling.
They shall not misplace the books and cause inconvenience to others. Such misconduct
shall be met with punishment.
Each student is provided with a library ticket, which will entitle the student to borrow
three books at a time.
No one is allowed to retain a book for more than 15 days. If a book is not returned to the
Library within the due date, prescribed fine will be levied which varies with time.
The Library remains open from 8 am to 7 pm on all working days. On Sundays and
public holidays it remains open from 8am to 1pm.
Code of Conduct for Faculty:
These rules apply to all staff members, whether ad-hoc, temporary, part-time, contractual or
permanent, in the service of Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and PG Courses (A).
CODE OF CONDUCT
The provisions contained in this shall apply, without exception, to all staff members of the
college whether, ad-hoc, probationary, temporary, part-time, contractual or permanent. Every
staff member, without exception, shall be liable to strict disciplinary action, including suspension
and or termination, for the breach of any provision(s) of the code of conduct. The Disciplinary
Authority shall initiate disciplinary proceedings for non-compliance of the code of
conduct/service rules/leave rules or any other rules of the college that may be in force from time
to time by any staff and shall have the power to appoint an Inquiry Officer(s) to conduct an
inquiry into the charges against such staff member. Every staff member shall be governed by the
following code of conduct, which is not exhaustive:
Every staff member shall at all times be courteous towards the management personnel,
parents, colleagues, students, visitors, superiors and co-workers.
Every staff member shall maintain absolute integrity, a high sense of devotion to duty
and high standard of conduct. The staff members shall be loyal to the college and abide
by the rules and regulations made from time to time.
Every staff member shall carry out the work assigned to him/her by his/her superiors
consciously in accordance with the specific or general instructions of his /her superiors
and shall maintain discipline at all times in the department or workplaces or premises of
the college. He/ She shall also co-operate with his/her superiors and co-staff members
and not commit a nuisance and abet indiscipline among others.
No staff member shall, at any time, indulge in maligning or falsely implicating the
authorities or superiors or college/college management or members of the staff.
Any staff member is required to accept any work allotted to him/her by the
Principal/Director/HOD in addition to the work allotted to the particular post held by the
staff member, keeping in mind the culture and ethics of the college.
Staff members shall always be neatly dressed with full sleeves, in clean, ironed clothes
while on duty and shall keep their person and work-places tidy and clean and at all times
maintain cleanliness of the college.
Staff members who have been provided with uniform/identity card shall wear it while on
duty. Uniform provided by the college shall not be worn during off-duty hours.
Staff members shall take proper care of machines, tools, materials, equipment, furniture
and all other various property of the college, movable and immovable.
Staff members shall promptly report of an accident or hazard noticed by them on the
premises of the college and shall promptly do the needful to minimize the damage
forthwith.
All teaching/ non-teaching staff should be present at the commencement of the time fixed
and notified to them. Late attendance by more than 5 minutes for three days in one month
shall entail forfeiture of a day’s salary/wages. No one will be allowed to attend the
College if he/she is late by 45 minutes, and he/she will be marked “ABSENT”, except
with prior permission of the concerned authority and in that event half day Casual Leave
may or may not be granted at the sole discretion of the concerned authority.
No staff members are permitted to accept gifts in cash or kind from visitors, parents of
the students, contractors, businessmen or any other party connected with the activities of
the college.
No staff member shall tamper or cause to tamper with the records or notices of the
college.
The staff member shall not communicate directly or indirectly any official document or
information to any other person/authority without prior permission from the authorities
concerned.
No staff member shall disturb the harmony and peaceful atmosphere of the college by
demonstration, shouting, speak loudly in any fashion whatsoever, or indulge in an act
which is prejudicial to the interest of teaching or peaceful working of the college.
No staff member shall indulge in quarrels, cross-talk, abuses, fights, violence or any other
disorderly or indecent behavior on the premises of the college.
No staff member shall make a collection of money in any manner on the premises of the
college.
No staff member shall interfere with the work of other staff members, disturb or cause
annoyance to them or misbehave with them at work.
No staff member shall smoke and shall not bring alcohol or intoxicant drugs to the
college premises or report to work in an unfit condition because of previous indulgence in
or under the influence of intoxicants or drugs.
No staff member shall undertake employment while in service of the college other than
his duties connected with the college, or carry on, directly or indirectly a business or
trade or private practice relating to tuitions or associate himself/herself directly or
indirectly with any coaching classes.
No staff member shall knowingly or willfully neglect his/her duties, moral or otherwise
discriminate against a student or any other staff member on grounds of caste, creed,
language, religion, place of origin, social and cultural background or any of them.
No staff member shall indulge in or encourage, any form of malpractice connected with
examination or any other social activities; be negligent in or late in correcting class work
or home work done by students, inflict corporal punishment on a student.
No staff member, while marked present in the College, shall absent himself, except with
the permission of the principal from the class or duty which he is required to attend or
communicate any information which he may come across as a secret of the college.
No staff member shall indulge in disclosing any secret or confidential matter relating to
the affairs of the college/college to an unauthorized person at any time.
No female staff member shall be sexually harassed at the workplace.
Copyright of all designs, drawings, formulas, charts, methodologies, inventions, etc.,
shall be treated as “Work made for hire” and the intellectual property rights over the
same shall vest with the college.
No staff member shall be allowed to be on leave which has been refused or such leave
has been cancelled and has been called to join duty.
No staff member shall refuse to accept an order of transfer to any of the college under the
same trust.
A staff member shall not commit any act which is detrimental to the interest and prestige
of the college.
Code of conduct for Governing Body
The Governing Body of Gayatri Vidya Parishad College is the body controlling the entire
Institution. The function of governance is to ensure that the organization fulfills its overall
purpose, achieves its intended outcomes and operates in an efficient, effective and ethical
manner. This Code is intended to ensure that Members of the Governing Body are aware of and
accept the responsibilities associated with being on the Board and follow high standards of
ethical and professional conduct, as members of the Governing Body.
Objectives:

To set out general ethical guidelines.
To endorse and preserve the confidence and faith in the governing body of GVPCDPGC.

them and Head of Department (HOD) / administrative head.

Avoid words and deeds that might bring the institute into disrepute or might undermine
colleagues in the perception of others (staff/students/parents/community).

Be aware of, and should follow the policies, systems and procedures of the institution
should communicate through the prescribed management structure only.
Attend their place of work punctually in accordance with their conditions of service.
Those unable to avoid being late or absent should, whatever possible, give as much notice
to the HOD or administrative head, so that alternative arrangements may be made.
Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality with respect to student and staff records
and other sensitive matters. They should take care not to discuss issues of particularly
sensitive matters within the institute community which could cause distress to institute
staff, students or parents.
