Hardware/MultimediaMultimedia is about generating ideas, expressing creativity, and sharing information across boundaries. But for all its intellectual and social power, multimedia depends on objects made of metal, plastic, and glass.
All multimedia programs depend on computer technology for viewing, and all multimedia products are produced by computers.
Hardware/MultimediaComputers are digital devices that read and process information as a series of individual bits of data rather than a continuous stream
Devices such as tape recorders and televisions are analog, which means they work with information as a continuous stream
Personal Computers (PCs)Operating systems – software that enables computers to run other software and perform basic task.
Many PCs use the Microsoft Windows operating systems. Many different companies make computers that use the windows OS
Macintosh computers , made by Apple, use an operating system called Mac OS that runs only on Macintosh Computers.
Laptops and Handheld devices
Laptops and handhelds are designed to be portable.
NetworksA server is a computer that manages files and other resources for a network.
In a typical network several PCs are connected to a single server.
Other devices such as a scanner, a printer, or a projector; to the server so that many people can share them.
Input - any information that is entered into a computer for transmission and processing.
Input, Output, and Storage
Output - any information that is produced or processed by the computer.
Storage – Storage devices gives you a means of saving your work, so it is not lost when you turn off the equipment. Also the software you work with must be stored in a way that gives you easy access to it for repeated use.
