GSMA Pan-African mHealth Initiative (PAMI)

• GSMA mHealth programme launched the Pan-African

mHealth Initiative (PAMI) in support of UN’s Every Woman

Every Child Initiative, Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) and the

Global Nutrition for Growth Compact.

• Focus: to support the scale-up of mHealth in nutrition and

maternal and child health, in support of the Millennium

Development Goals 4, 5 and 6.

• Funded by Department for International Development

(DFID) and Norad

• Target Countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi,

Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and

Zambia.

Zero Mothers Die: mHealth Project for Maternal Mortality

• Zero Mothers Die is a global partnership initiative to save the lives of

these women by giving pregnant women access to mobile

technologies to increase their access to information and healthcare.

• Country initiative in Senegal to use mobile

technology for DIABETES prevention and

control launching in November 2014.

1. Prevention using SMS based campaign;

2. mTraining program for health professionals and

community health workers;

3. Patient monitoring component using mobile

phones.
