After Samuel got all the tribes of Israel lined up, the Benjamin tribe was picked. Then he lined up the Benjamin tribe in family groups, and the family of Matri was picked. The family of Matri took its place in the lineup, and the name Saul, son of Kish, was picked.

GIDEON

GIDEON

GIDEONWhen the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, "The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.". "But sir," Gideon replied, "if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our

fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand

of Midian." The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?" "But Lord, " Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in

Manasseh, and I am the least in my family." The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together."

DAVID

DAVID“So Samuel did what the LORD said, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, “Do you come peacably?” And he said, “Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he consecrated Jess and his sons,

and invited them to the sacrifice.”- 1 Samuel 16:4-5

DAVID“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his

physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at

the heart.”- 1 Samuel 16:7

“NO ONE NOTICES ME”

“NO ONE LISTENS TO ME”

“LISTEN”

“I lift up my eyes to the hills—    from where will my help come?

My help comes from the Lord,    who made heaven and earth.”

- Psalm 121:1-2

“LOCKED OUT OF HEAVEN”

“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer ;my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,my shield and the horn of my salvation,    my stronghold and my refuge,

my savior ; you save me from violence.”- 2 Samuel 22:2-3

“I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

When the waves of death surrounded me, The floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;The snares of death confronted me.

In my distress I called upon the LORD,And cried out to my God;

He heard my voice from His temple,And my cry entered His ears.”

- 2 Samuel 22:4-7

“Then the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived. “

- 1 Kings 17:22

And God listened to the voice of Manoah, and the Angel of God came to the woman again as she was

sitting in the field.- Judges 13:9

God, listen to me shout,    bend an ear to my prayer. When I’m far from anywhere,    down to my last gasp,

I call out, “Guide me    up High Rock Mountain!”

You’ve always given me breathing room,    a place to get away from it all,

A lifetime pass to your safe-house,    an open invitation as your guest.

You’ve always taken me seriously, God,    made me welcome among those who know and love you.

Let the days of the king add up    to years and years of good rule.

Set his throne in the full light of God;    post Steady Love and Good Faith as lookouts,

And I’ll be the poet who sings your glory—    and live what I sing every day.

- Psalm 61
